Which do you feel is most important: insight, foresight, oversight, or hindsight? Why?
Insight because you have knowledge of it and then Foresight because it helps you plan ahead properly. If I knew what it related to, I would elaborate more.
Nice question though.
What a fun question!
I would go for insight, as that is deep seeing into the heart of a matter, and opens the door to wisdom and to practical solutions. Foresight is, of course practical. To honestly see what might be coming and be ready is a good thing.
Hindsight is useful if we learn not to make the same mistake again.
Oversight has two means. To oversee means to be in charge, to watch out or take care. That's cool. But an oversight can also mean that we overlooked something, that we didn't see it or didn't think it was important, and it came back and bit us in the butt. Not so good.
What a fun answer, Sid! I love your answer, too. I'm like you, because I would also choose insight as it gives us the ability to discern truth or the true nature of a thing. When I think of insight, I think of wisdom. So give me wisdom!
In Zen meditation, we practice seeing things as they are. This leads to wonderful gifts of insight, and to skills we must use carefully, such as foresight and hindsight. read more
This is a situational issue:
insight matters most if you're analyzing a situation;
foresight counts when the volcano is going to blow and you have to get out of the way;
oversight is great if you're the boss with a job to get done (assuming that meaning of the term);
hindsight is crucial if you're giving advice based on your own experience.
Hmm.... I personally believe it will be a combination of insight and foresight.
As mentioned by Lady_E that insight will be knowledge and foresight helps to plan ahead.
So with this combination of having the knowledge and planning ahead will help to resolve and avoid problems and obstacles that may be happening.
Having one alone may not be a good idea.
This is a real brain teaser! Sort of like which comes first, the chicken or the egg.....except that I think there may actually be an answer....You can't have much insight until you have hindsight with experience. You need to have insight to have foresight and you can't have oversight without experience which usually results in hindsight which creates insight...! Ok, now I'm totally confused.....!
But to answer your original question of which is most important, I guess it would be hindsight, because though it may sound a bit negative, it really is the closest I can see in the list to learning and learning is the most important of all of the things listed in your string....without learning, nothing can go forward, and there can be no insight or further learning (hindsight) or foresight that amounts to anything because foresight requires hindsight!
....although oversight is pretty important too - because without oversight one cannot learn either....one has to be observant of his/her surroundings in order to learn....
Ok, please teacher, tell us the answer now!
Thanks for your delightful answer, Dubuquedogtrainer! Teacher chooses insight because it reminds me of Solomon's answer in I Kings 3:5,9-12 where he could've asked for anything he wanted but chose to ask for wisdom. His answer really pleased God!
Insight. It is using the faculties available to us that we are born with, intuition and deeply thoughtful knowledge. Foresight is not always positive, oversight creates problems, and hindsight is reflective only.
All 'sights' are interrelated and you need them all in different time and different order to see the situation as it is.
In every one and each of our experiences we go through all of them, in grieving for example: the sadness overcomes you, it plants the seed inside you and you can't do anything but feel it, but you hope that as time passes it will be better and you raise again from ashes of pain with hope. As time passes you distance yourself, more and more from you pain and eventually you manage to see it from outside of yourself and eventually you look back at the pain you felt and you are richer person because of the grief you have experienced.

When one expert's opinion is different from another expert's opinion, then who is the EXPERT?Most people expect an expert to be correct in his or her field. So why do many experts within the same field of study disagree? So does this mean many "experts" are wrong? And if so, which one?
