   Do you believe rocks can talk.
   
   In the Native American beliefs, everything is alive.  The trees, the plants, dirt and even rocks are said to speak.  Rocks are the oldest forms on earth.  I often wonder what stories they do tell.

   Of course rocks can talk, anything can. It is not that they talk in the sense we usually refer to but talk they do non  the less. A kind of telepathy jogs our mind, it brings memories or visions to the fore of our consciousness and we take our lead from those. So I don't know if you would call it talking but they certainly tell us something. The real secret is to be able to correctly translate what message they may be imparting.

      Like your views!  We honor and respect rocks, that we call them grandmothers and grandfathers.  I agree, the interpretation and knowing how to listen is the key.  Look at fossils, they tell stories to those who have studied them.

   I believe that they can 'speak' to our minds and imaginations--a rock has a story to tell a good field geologist, and also to a poet.  The rock 'speaks' with its very being; humans can be the ear to hear it, if they choose to heed.

   In the Bible it states that "even the rocks will cry out" and in many ways rocks have a story too tell...so in way, the do speak!

   Yes, in a matter of speaking, if you consider that a rock in the form of quartz or flint, is made into a tool or arrow head, it is the subject of much work and may well tell a story in the way it was used by early man or native Americans. A gem in crude form may be fashioned into  beautiful gem stone for jewelry. A piece of coal may be used for fuel and tells the story of early man's search for a power source and even in effect today, in our modern world. What is the history that the coal rock may tell of from the industrial revolution to other fuel needs of today? A piece of gold may be fashioned into jewelry or coins and may have been on many adventures with the pirates and buried as a treasure or lost in a great storm at sea. A piece of uranium may tell a story of nuclear energy and what has been the history of atomic bombs and their use in WWII or how they may be used today in creating fuel in reactors. A pearl may have a story to tell about how it was formed in an oyster and later discovered and perhaps fashioned into a grand necklace worn by a queen. A stone may tell the story from the Bible of how it was used to kill the giant enemy by the shepherd David. Since most stones are millions of years in age, there are quite a few interesting stories that they may share of how mankind has developed and that in spite of all his wisdom, has not yet learned that greed, hatred and jealousy, are to be deplored and that love, sharing and caring is the way that was meant for mankind to flourish.Yes, rocks have a story to tell, and often do just that!Hopefully we may all listen.

      Also, there has always been a mythology around crystals and other forms of quarts, were even today, mystics and many New Age types have spacial procedures used in "activating" the crystal or quarts.

   The most outspoken rocks,if they spoke, would be the ones that clearly state that a volcano erupted at a certain time, given their position above ground.
   If rocks got thirsty, they'd probably ask for "a coupla quartz" of water...and, of course, they'd drink it from crystal containers!
   Musically, would it be overstating the obvious to say they'd play ROCK AND ROLL?!!!
   I'm guessing some iron bearing ones would have some guest roles in "Ferrous Bueller's Day Off."...admission, of course, would be some Fool's Gold for the Pyrite Crowd!
   As for the "rocks crying out" as Jesus said, His statement in Luke 19:40 was that IF the people did not cry out honoring Him as the True Messiah, which they did, the rocks would; which they didn't have to, so their ability so to do is still left for us to question...

    Rocks look beautiful they don't look like some crumpled waste paper ..they get u r mind engaged with there shape, size, color, texture, touch sensation and being ancient evokes some sort of spirtual feeling they have witnessed many events of the earth silently and they will never talk..

    Rocks cannot talk, factually, when they are all composed of atoms and molecules, and not the organs of the human body. However, since humans have consciousness, the Native Americans believe that rocks are alive. That is only subjective.
