   Do Angels have a free will? Why does an all powerful God need Angels?
   
   Do Angels have a free will or do they just do as they are ordered? Does God really need Angels to do things?

   God doesn't "need" anything. Everything comes from god.
   It's been said, "A friend is an angel in disguise." As to the question of angels having free will.... I seem to recall that Satan was as an angel. Apparently (he made some choices) that did not agree with God's plans. This would indicate to me that angels do have free will.

      Thanks, I would have to agree with the your point. If Satan was an angel and he chose to do his own thing then it would be logical to reason that angels have free will.

   If we suspend disbelief, and for the purpose of this question accept the existence of an all powerful God, we can look at the world of entertainment.  As the character (Gabriel if my memory serves me well) played by Christopher Walkern said in  the film, The Prophecy,   -'Whenever God needs something bad done he sends an Angel'.  Whether God needs them or not, is a moot point, but he uses them.  To continue to allow this to go on we have to believe that Angels have free will and do that because continuing to comply gives them comfortable lives, or they have no free will, and therefore no choice.

   It is all about governs where we have a CEO, GM, manager, supervisors, etc. Instead of God doing all the work, the angels are our guides. They help God to keep us in the right track. We are constantly reminded of the path we should be taking and avoid pitfalls. Angels are always there to guide us.

      Interesting, I would agree with most of what you say, however, I remember it was angels that destrpyes Sodom and Gamorah.  I do not think they only guide people.

      @Darrell Roberts, the city didn't need to be destroyed, all Lot had to do was bring forth 10 at minimum, 10, up right citizens that were right in their ways and the city would be spared.

   As I have read so many comments about God? People are looking at these questions from a Human point of view. What is real to us is what we can see. People need to read the Bible and think like God would think. Our opinion or point of views have nothing to do with how God really is. It is so hard for the Human mind to even fathom how the Deity and Heaven for that matter really are because no one has experienced anything like it. We must try to think above the realm of our intelligence and just have "Faith." As far as Angels, They are God's helpers. And yes they have Free will. If not? The Devil would not exist.

   As to whether angels have a free will, the answer is yes. The Bible records how Satan/Lucifer exercised his free will and one third of the angels chose to follow him. By making such a choice, it tells me that they have free will.
   
   In terms of why does an omnipotent God need angels. I think that you may be asking the wrong question. We, as humans are the ones that need the angels as messengers. Humans can not handle direct messages from an omnipotent and Holy God. The Bible records how Moses could not handle direct interactions and how the people could not handle the secondary effects of him interacting with God in the indirect manner in which he did. The angels are a way of sending messages to us in a manner in which we can handle things.

      Ok, the angels having freewill I agrre. I will ask if God is all knowing how come He cannot communicate with humans in a way that is pleasant to both parties with out a messenger.  Could he not give humans ability to handle the message themselves?

   Lucifer was cast out of Heaven, he didn't "choose" to leave. Lucifer wanted to overthrow God and His angels, hence the "War In Heaven" (Revelation 12:7-9), also the free will that the angels have is much different than us humans are given, thus the jealousy that angels have towards us humans, cause God created us perfect in His image. Lucifer a.k.a. "god of this world" is mentioned in 2 Corinthians 4:4..."in their case, the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of GOD".....
