I hope Confucius would have understood this analogy!
If you hold out your hand during a rain shower you will see raindrops falling onto your skin and, if your hand is held at an angle, those drops will trickle down. Concentrate on one raindrop. Can you follow its unique path?
Now, if ten people hold out their hands each will see that raindrop trickling down its unique path, unique to that individual.
Now if a thousand people do the same, each will experience a unique raindrop, even though a raindrop is merely a raindrop.
Now, if a million people hold out their hands the effect must be the same. For the individual the raindrop's path will be unique.
It is the same with values. We all have them and some are common to all. But the raindrop effect means there will always be a unique set of values for every person.
