What does "God's Church" mean to you?

Is it a physical place of worship or a larger (perhaps worldwide) fellowship of believers?

To me, "God's church," means one more religious organization trying to gain followers with an economic purpose.

Churches abound and one more is likely to be created for the same purpose as many others.

For as long as the human population continues growing, churches will have the raw material from where to grow themselves into huge organizations.

It' s necessary for most congregations which conduct business both inside the church and in the community to operate like businesses. This means having officials who handle finances, oversee legal issues, and keep things running smoothly.

cat-- not really  see 1 cor 14:26-    that they operate as a business makes it a "church of man"  not of God

      Hello celafoe.
I understand that principle.  Unlike most businesses, churches are non-profit and tax-exempt; however, they still must be able to meet the requirements of state and local regulations when meeting to worship and spread the word of God.

cat-  you are talking about the businesses (churches of men) , not God;s church.    Gods church does not need anything from govt. ,no corp  protection, tax exempt etc. we trust in God alone

Yes, celafoe, I am referring to the worldwide churches of organized religion that I feel unvrso is referring to since I was responding to his question.  My answer to him is not how I PERSONALLY view "God's church."  I've already answered that .

cat-- how anyone personally views it is of no importance the only thing that matter is how God views it.    so why bother to stoop to anyones level?

The question has many answers as different people view it differently. For Christians, it is the people or group of people agreed to believe the same God as the creator.

However, for non-Christians it may mean differently.

God's church consist of those called by His name......preparing to become His bride when Jesus returns......collectively, it is everyone who has received His Son and seeks to live by His principles and statues.....the principles and statues are meant to bring safety and provision from the things that will bring harm and confusion to the life and minds of the people.....they are guidelines to protect and not rules to harm....or, rob anyone of anything!

"God's Church" is  the one who  keeps ALL of His Commandments and His Seventh-day Sabbath (Saturday) holy (Exodus 20:8-11,  Revelation 14:12).  God's True church is a title many claim to be, but compare their teachings and mmission goal to the Holy Scriptures.
His Church  believes in the Scripturally taught 1st and 2nd resurrection ( Revelation 20:5,14)  and Christ's second coming (1 thessalonians 4:16-17) the true state of the dead (Ecclesiastes 9:5,6;  Ezekiel 18:4;  Psalm 115;17  Acts 2:29,34)  Baptism by immersion (read Jesus' baptism and notice where it notes that He came up from out under the water).
God's Church will obey everything Jesus taught, for Jesus is God come down in the flesh (John1 :1-3).

God's church allows people to grow in faith and to learn the practice of discipline taught in scripture. Thank you for your comments.

not so.  the is dead and gone.  you are mixing things against scripture.
those who are born again and follow Christ are the church nothing more or nothing less.    ALL days are Holy not just 1

I get to talking with people, sometimes total strangers about Jesus sometimes. I always get the same question, "where do you go to church?" My response is that I don't go to church, i am the church. That always gets a fun response. I'm like, we're having church talking about God right here baby! I don't care if its the grocery store, Best Buy, or a place in Brazil! We're having church wherever a child of God is standing! Praise The Lord!

You are so very correct Kasman. "..just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her" (Ephesians 5:25). Everyone who believes and accepts Christ is in His church. It is a PEOPLE, as you stated, and the woman symbolizes it in the bible.

I have to agree that those who congregate to share God's love and the good news of the Gospel make up the church. It can be anywhere!

Yes! The church is NOT the building but the people who come together in common worship. Thanks for your comments.
