An article I was reading the other day said there were several early Popes from the region of northwest Africa, basically in the area of Tunisia/Carthage.
That is very interesting. I will look into that. Where can I get that article?
I will try to find it and link it. I was just google searching and fell across it. This is a different article but it references Gregory III of Syria Pope in the 700s http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/17/world/europe/car...
Not sure what happened to a comment I left before. This is a different article but mentions Gregory III a Syrian Pope in the 700s http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/17/world/europe/car...
Excellent...who knew? To date I always assumed that popes were from Europe alone. Thank you so much for the links.
