Why should I consider Nature to be anything special. If I look a Nature's ultimate plan for me, then I am destined to be worm food, if I am lucky. That thought is way too depressing for my taste.
I believe that question is based on a Renaissance understanding of the world in which there is a sharp division between Man and Nature. Perhaps we should consider that Nature is something we cannot separate from Man, conceptually or literally. I don't think what we see as natural limits stand very long against Progress, or whatever we call it when adapting to changes. That is how we survive. The three questions we should ask ourselves are: Do we change ourselves?, Do we change our surroundings? Is this worth doing?
Based on my statement, I would answer your question this way: Nature is a part of our existence. Society can't avoid living within the "limits" of nature without collapsing.
