What are you?
If you don't believe in all the miracles, the virgin birth, the resurrection, or god, but you believe that Jesus was here - what are you?
I believe that Jesus was here, but He doesn't have to perform all those miracles or rise from the dead to impress me as a great man and a wise and effective teacher. Buddha and Joan of Arc and Abraham Lincoln don't have to perform miracles to impress me either. I don't have a label for myself such as "rationalist," nor am I an "atheist" or "agnostic." None of those labels really fit me. If the shoe doesn't fit I don't wear it. I understand the impulse to label people, because it creates boundaries and categories, creates an "us" and "them" which are convenient for simplifying thinking. Spiritual masters such as Jesus or leaders such as Lincoln might have suggested that we simplify our lives but they never suggested we simplify our thinking.
A selective believer who attempts to apply logic to illogical matters. Or perhaps a hypocrit for not believing in those other things without proof but choosing to believe he existed though there is no record of it. But most of all, a human being who has the right to believe what you want.
Hello David - thanks for your answer. Good point about no record he ever existed.
Hilarious! "No record?" That's like saying you don't exist, because there's no record. But of course there's a record right on this page -- your writing, your name and your avatar. And we have the New Testament as a record.
Human? A curious human?
Strange question, strangely formatted. But thought-provoking.
I choose to believe that Jesus was here. We have one record -- the New Testament. For some, that's enough.
I choose to believe in the miracles. I believed in miracles before I experienced them. Perhaps the most potent was one like that of Moses parting the sea -- broad daylight, thousands of witnesses, but no 7 o'clock news crew to document it.
It isn't about proof. It's all about a rescue mission to awaken the sleeping child of God within each of us. I know for a certainty that I am not a human with a spirit, but a spiritual being with a human body. I've been outside, fully capable of seeing without my Homo sapiens eyeballs.
Jesus made it clear on numerous occasions that the healing that was done was not his own doing, but the faith of the person healed. He was helping his brothers and sisters to find their "spiritual legs" again.
We are ancient beings. But most have forgotten too much and think they are their bodies.
Those who don't look or don't want to look are simply ego and Homo sapiens with a dead spirit locked inside. Hopeless.
Those who hunger for awakening are a spirit (soul, true self) stirring from an ages-long slumber.

Has these titles, which are often used to describe Christ's relationship with God, been taken out of context? Or do you honestly believe that Jesus Christ is God's son? I wonder, can a person still be a Christian, and yet believe that Christ is not the son of God? What are your...

...when Jesus clearly said 'My Father is Greater than I' in John 14:28?Nothing can be greater than God, so by Jesus' own words, we can deduce that Jesus did not profess to be God, because he professes that there is a power Greater than him (Jesus). Why then do many Christians firmly believe that...

Jesus was a man and according to the Bible tempted in every way, as we are all tempted. My...question do you think Jesus every wanted to marry and have children or ever have the desire to have sex or passionately kiss a woman? The Bible is silent on any of this.
