How much make up is too much?

Is there is a difference between how much we need and how much we want? If you are a man, is there particular things in make-up (for example, a lip gloss) that turn you off? If you are a woman, is there any ideal image you have about how much make-up makes you look better and how much make-up makes you look worse.

Great point about painting a face. In Russian, the term for applying make-up is "to paint oneself up". Life is a theater and women play the roles where the make-up is required and men don't. I like eye-penciled eyes on men - it is an Indian thing.

I actually like Dora the Explorer, Dora Exploradora! She stands on my desk, badly painted by my son when he was about six, she has light blue hair and a pirate outfit. But make-up.... Make-up could be fun, too! Let's explore the possibilities!

The problem with beauty is that a woman should feel beautiful with or without make-up, but we (women) are too insecure. We are buying into the image that the glamour magazines sell. Completely unrealistic. Women & makeup, men & cars.
