How should Christians worship God in spirit and in truth?
1 John 1:6, "If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:" When we ignore the truth and bare false witness, can that be justified. Does this quench the Holy Spirit?
I want to give you a quote from my dad that I believe is related to some degree with your question and it goes like this:
"Deep within each and every human spirit lies the knowledge of something out there that is far greater than ourselves."
I believe this quote is every true. Inside each of us is a spirit that seeks a relationship with our creater. The part of us that seeks for "our purpose" in life come from the spirit part of us. God created us to worship Him. This was our purpose when we were created. Our spirit was given to us at creation. Without it we would not have existed. Because our spirit is needed in order for to worship. Our spirit at the time of creation was just as pure as Jesus Christ's spirit was when He walked this earth throughout His life time. But the fall of man removed that purity of the spirit within man. Our spirit, although it was still there, was corrupted.
Because of Christ Jesus and what He did for us we now have the means to, once again, worship God in Spirit and in Christ TRUTH is revealed.
Jesus Christ said the following in John 18: 37 (NKJV) which states:" Pilate therefore said to Him, Are You a king then?" Jesus answered " You say rightly that I am a King. For this reason I was born, and for this cause I have come into this world, that I bear WITNESS to the TRUTH. Everyone who is OF the TRUTH hears MY voice."
Notice He said "Everyone who is OF the truth hears MY voice." Truth is through our Lord Jesus Christ. He was born to be a King and to bear witness of the TRUTH of the Kingdom of God.
This is the exact position we once had in the garden of Eden. A part of God's Kingdom on earth.
It was also said in Matthew 13:34 which States: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things kept seceret from the foundation of the world.
Those things Jesus Christ uttered in parables was about or directly related to the Kingdom of God.
The Garden of Eden had the Tree of Life and so will the New Jerusalem on the new Earth.
When we worship in spirit and in truth. We worship God as King we acknowledge He has an everlasting Kingdom and the truth was revealed through our Lord Jesus Christ. In worship we seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness as we study God's word.
We can avoid darkness and false witness by staying focused on God (our King), our Lord Jesus Christ, and listen to the Holy Spirit as He reveals the wonders of His Kingdom.
God Bless
I love the way you give well ordered, well thought answers grace. It's obvious that you are a student of the Word! Thank you!
We should prepare ourselves to enter His gates with thanksgiving in our hearts and to enter His courts with praise. Don’t wait until you arrive to Church, set the right attitude prior to your arrival. Hallelujah is a call we recognize to arise to the shifting of oneself into alignment and positioning of oneself into an attitude of praise. Entering praise begins in the heart and spirit first. Repentance before beginning is encouraged as well. Getting rid of anything that will hinder individual and corporate praise should be the desire of the heart. We are not entering praise but for one reason, to worship God in spirit and in truth, with the fruit of our lips or in others words, to speak words of exaltations, adorations and worship. We tell Him how wonderful we believe He is and how magnificent and marvelous He is. The approach to praise is not to receive but to give Him praise or it just may be flattery if we praise Him to receive something, we should praise Him for everything He is, and not always for things we receive. Praise him for his mighty acts. Worshipping in spirit and in truth will entail being shifted out of the natural realm and all of its struggles and into the spirit realm, where we can be aligned with His divine order and will. Grace and peace.
Thank you mabel for reading and taking time to respond. I was minister of music at my church for more than 20 years. Satan really likes to visit if we let him.

Atheists, do you despise Jesus or just religions (in general) that worship God?Such God worshiping religions would include Judaism and Islam. Also, did something happen to you to make you angry about "God" or is this just a scientific decision you made in college?? Many atheists demand...

Should Christians stand fast and hold the traditions taught by word or Epistle? Many eschew traditions. They say that rituals are bad. But Paul says: So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.

Does one have to go to church to be close to God?I mean Jesus taught out in the open, not in a church. Do you really have to go to church in order to be close to God, or can we worship him outside?

For those identifying themselves with Jesus Christ, the lure of Secular politics is constantly before them. In the name of their Savior, many are urged to participate. To not do so is considered sin by many. Is this right? And Why???What are the principles that should guide Christians when it comes...
