Most people want to do the right thing, but there are a few egos in any group. I think ego is the real "bad guy." Take ego out of the equation and we have a pretty nice world.
Agreed. Religions are ultimately all the same - about being a good person and doing the right thing.
Good observation, lone77star. If we keep our eyes open for ego at play in the group situation we can understand the situation better and deal with problems and pleasures appropriately, don't you think? Thanks.

Religion is not the pursuit of truth, the pursuit of truth is in looking for evidence. Religion is a dogmatic belief system and ends the search for evidence by relying on a religious leader whose truth is based on the ideals of the founders there of.
What you say is not entirely wrong, however from reading the life stories of various prophets and enlightened beings, it is very much evident that their teachings were against the dogmatic ways and blind beliefs prevailing and they brought in changes.
I see nothing of these religious leaders that convinces me that they are prophets or enlightened.... but I am convinced that many if not all of them are fictional or at the very least exaggerated.
artback01, I give all respect to your way of life and your perception. Everyone of us has been blessed with an intellect that decides for us what is good or not. Thanks a lot for exchange of some friendly words.
