How do you deal with a strong resolve which seems difficult to manifest? (read intro)
In this start to new resolutions, I am reminded of things I try to change and which I have been struggling with for years! For devotees who are in similar boats, are there any tips, or if you have conquered these adverse forces, how did you manage?
We're all addicts in our behaviour patterns. I believe the only way is to actually feel sick over something we do, or think, or do too much of, and which we know is damaging to our progression. It's the only way. I think with true comprehension of how damaging certain thoughts and activities are, it's easy to break a pattern. No-one stands on a slippery edge cliff laughing! For the most part, we don't realise where we're standing. That taste of something higher also comes into play I believe. In some ways it is like dying, funny that. Indulgences have to be indulged in, in some ways, to actually get an understanding of how sick it makes us, spiritually. This is what I think at the moment. Just conquering through effort of will, doesn't usually happen. Only clear realisation through feeling (spiritually) sick.
Very noble and practical answer, and yes, it can be like dying, a spiritual death but probably close to a physical death also. Yes, again, on the edge .. Thanks for your excellent input, Bro.
I seem to be on a similar journey to you, though our paths are different. I've noticed that the harder one fights a tendency, the worse it gets. I'm constantly reminded though that we're always being helped, if we choose to be helped. Stillness.....
Brother, why do you say that you are on a different Path to me? We have different teachers yes, but I really admire your work. You were not blessed physically with a Sri Chinmoy, perhaps, but I have found your answers very illumining. This makes you better than I, perhaps, for I sat at a Master's feet for many years. Om Shanti!

If someone really hates you and you can not avoid that person because you are living in the same house, what would you do? Considering that you even have to basic things with that person.
