Our own belief system puts the blinkers on when it comes to others?

When it comes to our own faith, belief or lack thereof - we are sensitive to the criticisms of others against it, particularly if we feel they do not know it as we do. Yet, it appears that we are happy to criticise the beliefs of others without the knowledge of theirs we request they have of ours. Do you think our own beliefs blinker us to this? (Us being anyone - non believer, Christian, Muslims, etc)

Is this a self confession? Do not you form your opinions, your attitude, your ideology, etc. from your life that you are living now. Doe not your opinions reflect your life as of now?

JT - answer the question, rather than pose another. It may be, but it was designed to have others look into themselves as well.
Perhaps some cannot see that they are blinkered to the hypocrisies of their own requests.

You did the same thing to me and I asked you to stay on topic? In which you were way off topic as to what the question was asking.

Which I did by making this question, and not continuing with comments to yrs. I felt the point I was making needed asking.
So if you can't answer the question - that's fine. But do try as I'm curious.

Yes, JLPark. It's called "Ego" or "self-concern."

Christ referred to it as those who would be "First" (egoists), but who will end up being last. And the Last (humble) shall end up being first, because, unlike egoists, they put Love ahead of everything else.

Buddha called it ignorance -- the source of suffering.

Ego loves to be right. Spirit loves to Love. Ego looks inward and asks, "What's in it for me?" Spirit looks outward (but inward toward the greater whole) and asks, "How can I help?"

Blinkers or "blinders" are all about Ego -- the hunger to be right and to be seen by others as "good" or "powerful."

So many think they understand their religious texts and commit crimes -- large and small -- against others, all in the name of Ego.

Some think they are following Christ, Allah or Buddha, but their actions show that they are following Ego -- the master of this world.

The only True Religion is Love. Christ knew this. So did Buddha. I suspect that Mohammed did, too.

jlpark, I think it is a human trait to be sensitive when someone criticizes our belief system. But in being human, the most constructive behavior we can cultivate within ourselves is, as the Nazarene said, "Do unto others as we would have them do unto us."
