Why do so many people not like the Bible?

Individuals that can't read may not like the Bible because they can't read it.

I can agree on Sufism (the Persian Masnavi etc.). I also don't have a problem with that kind of peaceful mysticism.

But Salafism, wahabism... Some Hadiths and Sharia law is particularly violent, totalitarian and closeminded.

Yeah I always think I am so smart. As a HS sophomore my IQ was 113. After college I thought it would be higher so I took another IQ test and found it went down to 111. I dare not take the test again. I no longer have a day-job as I am retired.

Religious texts can take away moral responsibility because believers can place the blame for their bad behavior on God. He's the one who wants them to hate gays, oppress their wives, beat their kids, or shoot people at Planned Parenthood.

I stopped believing when I read the Bible and realized that's not where my morals came from. The Bible often makes people judgmental, prejudiced and hateful toward others. I want to treat everyone with dignity and respect, which is a higher standard.

Christians are not told to kill in modern times, however the quran does tell its modern followers too. You know there is a Christian genocide in the middle east by islam. The Christian religion is not the inspiration for the terrorist attacks!

Well the old testament is not laws for living today, that would be the new testament. Maybe you shoulda read the whole thing through.

That is why it seems violent and not applicable. God was an angry God in the old days who had rules, now its faith!

The bible is about the Jews (God's chosen people). They were in slavery, and learned the ways of the Egyptians. The laws were given to break those learned ways. Christ came to save from the misinterpreted laws.

The Heavenly Father also hate things in the Bible, but I don't hate anyone. God has the right to hate, He's the Most High God. You can know something beyond others as well, if you practice feeding your true being which is your spirit.

JC Rev 20:4 says Judgement was given them.

Acts 17:31 says he will judge the inhabited earth.

Hebrews 13:4 clearly says he will judge fornicators and

    Adulterers.

JC you pick scriptures of true sayings but misunderstand.

Only men have a say? God could potentially kill? Gay persons deserve punishment? Which bible are you reading? God is merely trying to set things straight. A lot of time his chosen people are merely punished to lead them to the right of doing things.

Read the seven churches in revelation. God punishes, but He also sets standards, give warnings, and offers salvation over and over again. Like mocking Christ on the cross, most people see God as a wimp till He does what He says He is going to do.
