Is the faith of our society dwindling?
I have been overseas for six months. I just returned and a lot of what I am seeing and hearing is not good. I see people settling for less than they are worth in their jobs, relationships and overall lives. I see so many people forming very bad and unhealthy habits to cope with unhappy lives. I am very concerned about what is going to happen to us as a nation. Am I alone in this? I know God is still in control. I want to help spread hope and faith back into the lives of our people.
I perceive we are in a major revolutionary period, which will impact and evolve consciousness into a whole new way of understanding the meaning of life. The old has to shift to make way for the new. This means some major upsets, as the intensity to hang onto the old feels like loss, when in fact we are being asked to let go of what no longer works and move into a period of prosperity and peace this world has never known since the beginning of our world.
There is value in everything, but the value as it is defined from an old world perspective, is no longer helpful. The belief that old world understanding can be used for a greater purpose is possible, but it is up to the individual to examine their resistance to this change.and be willing to make the adjustment.
If Glen Beck can't inspire American's, no one can. He has a following that is amazing. He could probably get elected President. Unfortunately, as much as I'd like to think American's have faith, the Bible clearly states that faith without works is dead! So, I don't see the problem as a lack of faith so much as it is a lack of "doing." We are a nation of followers, and we're not very good at that. We rally to the call, until the going gets tough, then we go home. Sorry to say it, but America's really gone to hell.
As a nation, it would appear that the answer is yes. How could our society not dwindle with all the changes, new laws, promises not kept? We need God now more than every before. Instead of urging people to live a more righteous life, God is slowly being taken out of the picture. "The pledge of allegiance" was written to acknowledge that our nation was formed "under God". Today, it is being omitted, just because it offends some people. Our rights are one by one being taken from us. I, too am very concerned about what is happening to us as a nation. You are not alone.
Still, it is up to each one of us to do our best to live a life of compassion, integrity, forgiveness, love and learn how to bring peace to ourselves and to others. We do this by meditating, through the power of prayer.
Even with all the "wrong" going on, we have so much to be thankful for. We must replace resentment and hatred with thanksgiving. We must forgive those who make wrong and selfish decisions and pray for them.
Let each one of us concern ourselves with improving our own character and overcoming our own faults first. Then, when we have reached perfection - we can judge others.
As you say so beautifully, God is still in control and as long as He is we can all be fortified by putting on His armor, spreading hope and faith back into the lives of our people.
God bless you and keep you.
Yes, it has been dwindling for years. We put our trust and faith in ourselves as a country. We as a country has instilled fear, pride, and lust . And it will increased for the Word of GOD must fulfill itself. The hearts of man has waxed cold and the mark of the beast is before us. Pray and continue to keep your faith and trust in Father God and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I do believe that it just might my friend. you see society as a whole is becoming more desperate for true change. change that will not come. and with this one starts to see no changes and therefore loss faith. there is a method to the madness of it. but strong prayer and meditation is not enough i guess. specially in a world from which we take no time to ourselves. but then again we are the human race.
I'm going to have the shortest answer here compared to all these essays and say "yeah"

What does having faith really mean? Why not write about faith in someone's life, what it means, and how having faith means not abandoning it in difficult times.

Is it "really" possible to to have just a "personal" faith as a Christian?I certainly understand the desire to not make waves and to give respect and to be "open minded"; however, if one really claims to believe the message of Christianity as stated in Scripture, would...

A fine fellow posed a very interesting discussion today. You should visit his pages at http://zelkiiro.hubpages.com/ But I speak to something that came up there. Should religion interfere with straightforward empirical science and the logic and actions dictated therein. In my studies I read...
