What Kind of footprints would I like to have left when I am gone? A very thought provoking question. I think I would want to leave a very light footprint; Not one to be followed. I was productive; I worked for a living for myself and others. I didn’t steal and I seldom lied except to protect others. But, I don’t think I would want anyone following in my footprints for I have made more than my share of mistakes in life. I have done many good things, but I have done things I would not want others to have to do. I have tried to learn a lesson with each thing I have done, whether it is a positive lesson or one of those life lessons one should remember not to do again.
Maybe that is part of the footprint I would like to leave behind. As you walk through life you should learn something new every day, don’t forget the mistakes you make nor the good you do. You can avoid making the mistakes a second time, and share the idea of doing good with others. But don’t follow in the footprints I have left behind, for many days I wandered confused and sometimes lost. I am still finding my own way even though I am older. And I would hope that when I am gone people in my life will remember that I was gentle with my world, I cared deeply about them, I tried my best, and I never gave in, never gave up.
