Faith Moments Today August
Be Still & Know
With summer nearing a close, it's easy to slip back into a pattern we're used to just to get going again. The challenge of balancing kids, school, family, social activities, sports, holidays and church can become overwhelming to the point that we think God has forgotten all about us.
This month we'll focus on the fact that the Lord is not slow in doing what He promised. Learning to be still so we can hear the voice of God is a key part in receiving from the Lord.
It's time to relax over our morning coffee and just listen to the Lord. You might just hear that your miracle is on its way.
Week 1: Are You A Willing Laborer?

Are You A Willing Laborer?
Scripture Reading: Luke 10:1-2
"Look on the fields; for they are white already to the harvest" (John 4:35).
What were you doing for the Lord at this time last year? Since that time, has your service to the Lord increased, decreased, or stayed the same?
In the work force, we go through stages. The first stage is when you are younger. You work your regular hours plus overtime and weekends to save for your later years. As you get older, you cut back on the overtime. Then just before retirement you cut back to only five days a week, eight hours a day. In short, you kind of "wind down".
Our life in Christ goes through stages as well. We learn so we can work and work effectively. Then we work diligently every day of our life on this earth until our course is finished. There is no cutting back or retirement!
Each day of our lives, we should be stepping out, stepping forward and "pressing toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 3:14).
How is your service to the Lord this year compared to last year? Are you pressing forward? Have you found yourself to be a willing laborer?

Practice Runing the Race
I Corinthians 9:24-27
"and let us run with patience the race
that is set before us." (Hebrews 12:1)
It was a hot July afternoon. The temperature was 97 degrees and the heat index was well over 100! A young fellow about 12 years old was busy trying to master a futuristic looking pogo stick. He worked and worked in spite of the heat. Wiping sweat from his eyes after each attempt, he continued to try and beat his "personal best" from the previous attempt.
As I watched, I was reminded of the words of Hebrews 12:1, "and let us run with patience the race that is set before us". We are running for a reason. We run to win a prize (crown) from Jesus in return for doing well here on earth.
That young man had patience, perseverance, and determination. Those are the same qualities we believers need as we keep practicing the Word of God regardless of the conditions, circumstances, or situations that surround us.
Just as that young man set his sights on his personal best, we need to set our sights on God's Best for our lives as we practice His Word each and every day.
As we practice, we will be able to run the race without running out of Spiritual steam!

Positive Force Defeats A Negative Charge!
Ephesians 6:10-18
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood,
but against principalities and powers." (Ephesians 6:12)
There are positive and negative forces at work in the world around us. Electrical systems have positive and negative current. When used properly, everything works nicely. But cross the wires and you are in for a real "shock"!
In our spiritual life there are positive and negative forces at work. satan is constantly trying to push his negative forces off on us, while God's positive forces are there for the asking. Which do we reach out for? Of course we want to say the positive, but is that always the case? Too many times we speak of lack and sickness in our lives. When we do that we are speaking negative words, which release negative forces for negative results in our lives.
Lets reach out to the positive forces available through God's Word. Speak only the positive and let the "current" flow properly through our lives. Remember, the Positive Forces of the Living God will always defeat the negative charge of the enemy!

Wait on the Lord. You will never be disappointed!
Psalm 40:1-3
Waiting is a difficult thing to do. As children we couldn't wait until Christmas or the last day of school. As adults we can't wait until payday or vacation time rolls around. We don't like to wait because we want things RIGHT NOW!
Because of our mindset about waiting, we consider it a bad thing. Today however, I'd like to show you, from God's Word, how waiting can be a good thing.
As we wait upon the Lord (the Amplified Bible says, wait for, hope for, look for, expect) we shall renew our strength (Isaiah 40:31). As we wait upon the Lord, we will never be ashamed or sorry. (Psalm 25:3) As we wait upon the Lord, we will receive our meat (blessings ) in due season. (Psalm 145:15)
If we are waiting upon man and the world, we are in for some let downs and disappointment. But when we wait for, look for, hope for, and expect the Lord to do what He has promised, we will never be let down or disappointed!
"Wait, I say, on the Lord!" (Psalm 27:14)

BONUS DEVOTIONALS
Peace Be Still
Scripture Reading: Mark 4:35-39
“And the same day, when the evening was come, He (Jesus) said unto them, ‘Let us pass over to the other side.’
And when they had sent away the multitude, they took Him even as He was in the ship. And there were also with Him other little ships.
And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was not full (of water).
And He was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake Him, and say unto Him, ‘Master, carest thou not that we parish?’
And He arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, ‘Peace, be still.’ And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” Mark 4:35-39 (KJV)
Are the storms of life trying to sink your ship? Are they trying to rob you of your joy?
Read today's scripture passage in Mark 4:35-39. The Anointing of Jesus Christ not only can calm a storm of the elements, but can also calm the storms in your life.
Whatever the storms in your life: spiritual, mental, physical, financial, or social, our Savior has given us the ability to speak His Words, "Peace, be still", and there will be a great calm.
Speak the Word of God today. His Word will change your environment and calm the storm. (JW)
Miracles of Jesus
Scripture Reading: John 20:26-31
“And after eight days again His (Jesus’) disciples were within, and Thomas was with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, ‘Peace, be unto you.’
Then He said unto Thomas, ‘Reach here your finger, and behold My hands: and reach here your hand, and put it in My side: and be not faithless, but believing.’
And Thomas answered and said unto Him, ‘My Lord and my God.’
Jesus said unto him, ‘Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed: blessed are they that have not seen and yet believed.’
And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book:
But these are written, that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you might have life through His name.”John 20:26-31 (KJV)
Was there a purpose to the miracles of the Lord? Jesus tells us in Luke 4:18-19 just why He came and what He would do. Jesus did them all. He was busy doing His Father's business.
John sums it all up in John 21:25, "And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written."
Since Jesus ascended to be with the Father, the miracles haven't stopped, in fact they have increased! There are miracles all around us each day, miracles prepared for us. What a glorious miracle-working Savior we have in Christ Jesus our Lord! (JW)

Hearing Test
Scripture Reading: Hebrews 11
How is your hearing? What are you hearing? Have the issues of life gotten you down? Again I ask, what are you hearing?
When things get to us it is because our faith level has drooped and sagged. In order to rebuild it we need to have our hearing tested. Romans 10:17,
"Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God."
As we see to it that God's Word and only God's Word fills our hearing and enters our spirits, we will stand tall with our mountain moving faith intact, as the Church of Jesus Christ. When we do that, even the very gates of hell shall not prevail against us! (JW)
The Hour Glass of Time
Scripture Reading: Revelation 4
“After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in Heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me: which said, Come up hither, and I will show you things which must be hereafter.” Revelation 4:1 (KJV)
The sand is quickly flowing through the hourglass of time. All prophecy leading up to the rapture, "catching away" or "come up hither" of the church has been fulfilled. At this point in time we are standing on the threshold of Revelation 4:1. The hourglass is ready to empty.
Where will you be after the voice calls out, "Come up hither"? Will you be caught up with the saints or left here on earth for the Great Tribulation?
Secure your position in Heaven by accepting Christ as your Lord and Savior today. The Lord is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (II Peter 3:9).
“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 (KJV)
Say the prayer of salvation today. (JW)Are you in fellowship with God
Pray to Jesus right now by repeating this prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus,
I am sorry for my sins and for not believing in You as the One and only true God. I now want to make things right with You. Please come into my heart and save me. Forgive me of all my sins and make me clean.
I do believe that You died on the cross to save me from hell, and that You rose from the dead and are now in Heaven.
With all my heart I will follow you and be obedient to Your Word, and will fellowship with other believers. Thank you for saving me today.
In Your name I pray, Amen.
