Using the Five Elements of Feng Shui in Interior Decoration

As mentioned in other articles Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese philosophy used to create positive energy within a space. First you must understand the five elements that make up the Feng Shui and then start decorating the home using Feng Shui as a model. The elements of which we speak are earth, fire, water, wood and metal. Each of these items represents something different and when used improperly can cause harmful effects. We will give you some tips on the five Feng Shui elements that can define the colors and layout, to create an atmosphere of prosperity and health in your home.

The Feng Shui system is dominated by eight areas of each space and the five elements. Among the elements of the theory of Feng Shui, stand out, the wood, fire, water, earth and metal. Each of these elements has a key role within the space, whether at home or in your office. After using a compass and a plan to create the Bagua (map of energy), the next step is to look at the elements that control each of the eight areas.

Each of the five Feng Shui elements, influences a particular area of ‚Äč‚Äčlife. Knowing those areas, you can create the design and use home furnishings and accessories, demonstrating that specific element.

  • Metal: The metal is used to represent the efficiency and clarity of mind and purpose. Its work will have both, a well-defined purpose, such as good quality, when the metal element is present.
  • Water: Water flows freely bringing good fortune in abundance. The water element adds purity, plenty of energy and a feeling of freshness.
  • Earth: Earth element brings a sense of stability and security to the house and feed each family member.

  • Wood: Trees. They provide oxygen for all living things. The wood element is equivalent to body health. The cures that use Feng Shui, include the wood element in their composition. The prosperity at home is also governed by the element wood.
  • Fire: Fire inspires passion that burns deep within. The fire element adds a high amount of energy, whatever you do, this includes work, leisure activities and even sex life.

The colors associated with Feng Shui and the areas that work best with each element will help you build positive energy in the house. Each area must be strong in a particular element and it will give you a certain feeling when you enter this field. Each of the five Feng Shui elements has a different function in the home, use them wisely.
