What is the reasoning behind this doctrine and where is the evidence for it other than jesus Illustration which is not supposed to be taken literally?
I don't buy into mainstream interpretation of hell fire. Only those who taught that interpretation will try to provide evidence. I tend to agree with you. It was not meant to be interpreted literally.
