Wouldnt it be great if every religion would incorporate into their doctorine "DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE DONE UNTO YOU"?  The world would be a much better place.  I have a hard time with organized relegions.  Some you have to pay to be a "member", some you can't eat meats on certain days.  I don't know.  I think God wants nothing more from us than charity, humility, and to love one another.  Pass It On

I think if there was such a thing as an almighty invisible super being he would probably frown on religion as a complete and utter waste of time. tongue

Well since the population in general beleives in a higher power, preaching that along with the other would maybe make a difference.

Ah - the McDonalds approach. If most of the population is daft enough to believe it, it must be true. big_smile

The preachers will continue to preach what serves their personal purposes. And what you are suggesting is not it.

There is nothing that I'm suggesting other than the world could be a better place if relegion meant one thing...love one another.   I know, it sucks to be a dreamer.

You will get no argument from me. That is why I think religion is garbage. Their book says "love one another," But carry a Colt 45 lol

It's funny you should say that. There is a family story that on my mom's grandparents side of the family, I had a great-great (etc.) grandfather who was an old country preacher in West Virginina. He had a reputation as a kind, gentle man.

One sunday, a billigerant drunken man came storming into the church, cussing, violent, making threats etc. My great-great-(maybe one more great?) grand father, never missed a beat.  He just reached under the pulpit, pulled out a pistol, layed it next to his bible, and continued the sermon.

It may well have been a Colt 45.

I understand the billigerent man settled right down and became very friendly. big_smile

He frowns and is pissed of because arrogant humans fail to see the similarity and oneness of religions and fight in his name over which is the better or truer religion.

I find it interesting there are more posts on religion than anything else. Yet, when I wrote in that area on this site, it is the least read. Some of things I had to delete because of it taking my average down.
People make God way more complicated than he is, ten basic commandments. Yes, we live by the seven virtues if we live to serve. And try to keep away from the seven deadly sins. After writing online for seven years, poetry and everything-- I find only the religious seem to want to write about their religion.
It turns more people off than on. We live it, that is how we teach it. By our fruits we are known.
Just so you all know, religious things are for certain the least read, but somehow the most written about!
And certainly the most argued about. I think its best just to live by EXAMPLE. Period this teaches others, nothing more.
