SEX by far, is the worst sin in America, according to a CNN poll

A CNN poll or worst sins reveals that 94% of Americans of the 1,010 adults place one sin as being the most morally wrong. I think these morals priories are out of whack.
No. 1 ranked was adultery at 94%
In second place, at 90%, believe it or not, was “cheating on your taxes.
    2. , Having an abortion ranked third, but with only 57% calling it wrong.
    4. Fourth, Engaging in homosexual behavior was fourth, at 50%.
    5. To legalize marijuana 35% of people in this survey considered it to be wrong.
    6. The practice long known as “living in sin,” in which a couple lives together as a married couple without actually being married, ranked seventh on the list, at only 32%.

Four out of the top 6 sins according to American’s is related to Sex. Sex is as natural as food and sleep.
I Made my own list of the human’s worst mistakes rather than sins in human history.

1, Driving millions of species of animal to extinction
    2. Overpopulation the human species that kills off the other millions of species
    3. Worldwide Poverty or War of the classes, forces working people to work longer hours, for less pay and doing more paper work.
4 Light bulb conspiracies, the light bulb were designed to last a 100 years, we throw away products causing huge pollution waste and throw away relationships.
    5. War on drugs or plants like marijuana. Pot kills more Mexicans on the US border than the US killing Afghans over opium. Mean wail tobaccos kills more people than all drugs combined all legal too. Don’t get me started about GMOs
    6. Religion separating people from friends, family and country, not my idea of a friendlier or kinder world since mother nature and sharing culture is a lower concern.

Just out of curiosity - not even an led light can last anything like 100 years under normal use and certainly no filament bulb can.

Who invented this 100 year light bulb and what is the construction?  Who currently owns the patent and what would one cost if it were available?

I doubt it would cost a lot. There's one in Livermore California. At a fire station. It's been on 100 years. That's probably where he got the idea from.

Castlepalomaposted 3 years ago in reply to this

Originally donated to the fire station, the bulb was actually designed by Adolphe Chaillet, who – get this – originally competed with Thomas Edison

Now 110 years old. What happen to a great idea?

That's pretty neat, but come on Castle - the bulb is burning at 4 watts, and hardly puts  out enough light to classify even as a night light.  It is not in the same class as a 100w bulb - almost a different product entirely.  It also helps considerably that it is never turned off - the initial surge of electricity into a cold bulb is enormous and actually quite damaging.

We are getting smarter again, they now have full light LED's that can last 100,000 hours using far less energy.
The point was almost everything made is throw away short term products  making a huge waste of energy and matter, plus pollution.
VS. long term products which makes more sense, along with term relationships vs Sex sins.

No doubt making any light bulb back then takes a genius. I did say I'm very lucky loving my work for most waking hours of my life.If I ever become officially a genius I hope it's for influencing most people that surround me to just to like their job or what they do.

When it illegal to be gay 40 years ago, you would see men put in prison with a whole lot of other gays. The result, more men rape men than they rape women today.  Most prison mates today are in for Pot. Result from 50,000 user in America then to 140 million that have used pot today and often the pot users come out worst then when they went in.

I doubt men rape other men in prison because they turn gay. I hope that's not what you're saying. People don't turn gay. they either are, or they aren't (And I'm bisexual, and I know this for a fact)

They probably rape other men in prison as a means of controlling other prisoners.

What in the world, anyway, does that have to do with Tesla and light bulbs.

It relates to the original thread list of human’s worst mistakes.
Started out making prediction about  black segregation and legalizing gays. It worked for North America  now 80 more countries to go. After that, made dozens of prediction that came somewhat 20 years later.  The 6 on my list for human mistakes will be mostly corrected within 15 to 20 year from now.  Minor things like SEX sins and Religion will shrink as it's slowly being replace by people saying they are spiritual rather than religious.

I learn a lot from my daughter who is bisexual, she also confronted me with polygamy relationship for a bigger surprise. I can't even handle a couple relationship well enough. We did a pro's and con's list about her polygamist intent  together. She wrote down herself more con's than pro's, you can guess the rest of the story.

It's an unwritten fact that men are raping men more than they are raping women due to the main fact that 25% of the world prison are in the USA. Plus most of them are men and yes, want to dominate the other.

Unfortunately, American culture still has underlying residues of a combination of Christian guilt and Puritanism. Despite the postmodern liberalization of sex and sexual expression, there are STILL many Americans who equate sex with sin.  It is from the idea that sex should be relegated to marriage and should be for procreative purposes, not for pleasure.
      http://s1.hubimg.com/u/8475848.png
There was a study done which confirmed that America was one of the most religious of all industrialized nations.  80% of Americans are religiously affiliated, belong to a church and/or denomination.  Another study stated that over 50% of Americans believe in Satan and hell.  There is a correlation between levels of religiosity and attitudes towards sex.  Highly religious people believe that all forms of sex outside of marriage and/or procreation is sinful.
      http://s2.hubimg.com/u/8581285_f248.jpg
Sadly, antiquated religious attitudes are still in many Americans' subconscious thoughts and attitudes towards sex.  A lot of it has been imprinted by parents and religious authorities.  Even though there has been liberalization of sexual attitudes, the underlying premise is that sex is equated with naughtiness and sin!

Adultery is a big issue? I think that's a bit ridiculous. I hope that poll isn't correct. Do most Americans really think like that? (I'm an American, and I certainly don't)

Sure, adultery hurts people's feelings, can cause family disruption, but is it a big issue? I can't believe it is.

      Am I missing something?

I was quite amused (seeing it from the other side of the Atlantic) to see that Americans think things related to sex were their biggest sins, I was also bemused at the lack of a mention of murder and killings which are surely a sin.

I remember when I was younger wondering why American TV series seemed to portray violence with particular relish and yet stayed away from showing the naked human form at all costs, now it seems I have my answer.

As a group, Americans are the biggest prudes in the world, unable to grow out of the mindset instilled into them as children.  One day, perhaps, we will grow up and join the rest of the world in adulthood but for now our dress code is dictated by the great father in the sky.

I don't know what poll he is referring to, but i would assume it was concerned with personal sins. What someone would conceivably do. Most wouldn't think to murder another human being. Plus, the poll probably simply asked specific questions. Didn't bring up those things.

You can see us as prudish, but i do consider cheating on one's spouse as a heinous act. If one isn't happy, divorce is a viable option. You couldn't convince me Europeans don't get hurt in such situations. Primarily because I don't know any Europeans who claim to condone out.

Secondly, i find it interesting Americans don't run around bashing Canadians, Europeans and generally any other nationality. That fact makes me proud and tells me we are probably on the right track, in some ways.

Sex may be as natural as food and sleep, but it is the most intimate act we are capable of. In that it is so intimate, of course it would be one of the top things on the list.

Adultery hurts people. Psychologically. And, why do we consider doing it? Because we are selfish. We put a physical desire above the emotional well being of all.

Abortion cannot be chalked up to an action that doesn't hurt another human being. Although I firmly believe in a woman's right to make the choices that will affect her life; one does not have the right to take the choice lightly. It is one act which can never be undone and can adversely affect the emotional well being of the person making the decision. For the rest of her life. So, although it might not be described as 'wrong' it is a choice one would hope they would never have to make.

I have no idea how homosexual behavior makes the list.

Living together could probably be argued as hurting the parents. And, at least one of the parties usually considers it an informal marriage contract; so infidelity would carry the same emotional baggage as adultery would and a breakup would cause as much pain as divorce.

I'm not sure how I feel about the legalization of marijuana. Which, shows my distrust of my fellow man. I've used it and keep it in perspective. However, I find it hilarious that we have demonized cigarette smoking yet stand on the cusp of legalizing another substance which is usually smoked and can cause as much, if not more, damage. Death and taxes, I guess.

I view your list as just as important. It, too, shows the damage we cause when we don't consider the lives and feelings of others.

Sex vs. all the issues, is so far out of whack.
For example, Clinton by record was the best president ever, he got impeached for a BJ wail GW. Bush the worst president, gets to screw a country.

It's lying (American greatest pastime) about sex with others that is causing harms, greater than Adultery. When people are honest and open about their feelings about their sexual relationship, they would not throw away like a light bulb, (bad idea)

Homo sexual is a threat to over population the world with Religious people fight clubs, that why it's illegal in 80 countries.

Pot is the next gay marriage, smoking anything is not a good idea.No death cause directly from eating cannabis Over buying from the greatest drug pushers in the world, doctor/ druggist is a worst idea. Alcohol is worst than marijuana also, yet even birds and bee's gotta to get high sometimes.

A 2011 Gallup poll asked Americans who the best president ever was, and Ronald Reagan and Clinton filled two of the top three slots. I got my long list of reasons why Clinton was the best since I’ve been alive. His wife forgave him for cheating, why can’t the Country; beside his sex is none of their or our business. Many civilized Europeans only laugh at lopsided issue.

On the dating world 35% are still marriage, Marriage or not, it’s not healthy to cheat. On the other end of the one-sided sin prospective on loyal couples is marring in the Muslim faith, gives a 1000 to one chance of divorce (there goes freedoms) take All-of- ME.(Allah)

Being a romantic toward the extreme, sex is important as the greatest pleasure and bond for couples on earth. Romanticism spread to all passionate sides of life and to all forms of life, not just to our selfish organs in an over ego world.

Why must the religious be the judge, quilt, unforgiven champions of the World about sinful SEX . How come hardly anyone has deep concerns about my list of human mistakes that can be adjusted and improved on? Wail their sins only get worst and worst compared to Sodom and Gomorrah.

According to her testimony, involved fellatio and other sexual acts in the Oval Office, but not sexual intercourse, now that would have worst, maybe more unhealthy than actually smoking the cigar.

If my mother suggested I keep a dress soiled with, well you know, so i would have proof if need be.....the woman obviously expected something more from the encounter and her mother was about as low class as one gets.

Bill didn't do anything 'wrong'. Which is why America basically didn't give a hoot. The politicians attempted to use it against him, but that didn't go well.

Bill Clinton, by his actions, proved himself in line with the lowest common denominator. Have you noticed America's infatuation with low class reality tv? Bill brought that fascination to the attention of the networks. For that, i will always despise him. smile

Perhaps, the CNN is not a reliable source yet the over sex bible is. Just say NO to kids about pot and sex without good reasons and see what happens.

Sex sin assaults the pure Lordship of Jesus Christ . Fornacation would fill the vast majority of our love ones into the pits of hell forever, is not good enough reason

Sex sins are more damaging at a personal and social dimension for the following reasons. It stain the root of the individual’s basic point of identity. It exploits the deepest aspects of our emotional violation and injury. The Sex guilt cripples confidence and authority in marriage, poisoning the possibilities of the most open communication and breaching trust. Sex sin exposes us to the risk physically or emotionally increases the probability of disease.  Condom can work, yet in the minds of biblical sexual immorality is worse.

Yes their is a self-indulgent trait of our culture of what you want pulling for pleasure. Wail in Jesus Christ it violate trust with brothers and sisters in Christ. You are one in the Body or pushing for pain.
Sex sins are worse than others because in sexual immorality, a believer prostitutes the Body of Jesus. What we do is not only to ourselves, but it wounds Jesus.

Sorry Jesus, not giving up my worldwide culture choices and the passion of sex.
