OK, OK I give in. The relentless proof and clear logical arguments have finally persuaded me that you are all doing it because you really love me and actually have the truth. All that nonsense about life happening without a divine intervention? Really - It is so complex it could not possibly have happened without an enormous intellect too vast for my puny brain to grasp. Science? Ptcha! what can they know. No one can really know anything - right?
25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose. 27 The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. 28 But Paul shouted, “Don’t harm yourself! We are all here!”
29 The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
31 They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” 32 Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. 33 At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized.
Rather sad, don't you think, that God would make so many millions of people that are incapable of joining Him in heaven?
A sadist perhaps, creating them just to watch them being tortured in Hell. Or perhaps you are mistaken; other Christians have made a big point that actions must be correct, that belief is strictly secondary to how we behave.
Good - it made you wonder why I would say that. Now if I can just get you to think about the question I will be successful. Because that's why it was asked; to get you to think instead of quote 2,000 old literature.
I read modern texts when looking to clarify a subject too. For example:
"In reality, controlling people don’t feel very good about themselves. They wouldn’t try to control others in the way they do if they truly felt okay. Controllers often think to themselves: “If others would just do what I want and see the world the way that I do, then everything would be fine for me and everyone else.” Unfortunately, if you were raised in a family like this, where significant control was overtly or covertly manifested and where rigid and unrealistic roles of you and others were expected, you may have taken on some of the unhealthy aspects related to control. When control becomes an intense and all-consuming desire to be in charge or force change in a person or situation and is then acted out by you in the relationship or the situation, it becomes a significant problem and often leads to manipulative, disrespectful, punishing, intimidating, and sometimes even violent behavior."
Actually, I would. But to sound legit, I have to say no. I'm concerned that my mansion in Heaven wouldn't get as many extra rooms if I shared the credit with someone else. I'm all about square footage!
