I suppose if I used one word to describe God, it would have to be graceful. The grace that God exhumes is unprecdented. It is unlimited and totally undeserving of anyone to recieve, but He gives it anyway.
Through the Son we have the opportunity again to dwell with the Father. So to me they represent the paramount or sum total of man's progression. Their purpose is for our happiness and exaltation. They are the example of what we are to be.
Dear Nikki I am very saddened by peoples reactions to your question. Are there really so many misguided people out there or do they just choose to be ignorant in this matter. Nobody alive today met Captain Cook, Nostradamus,Alexander Graham Bell, Adolf Hitler and many many more famous people but they don't have a problem with believing they existed. They read books about what each of them did and thats cool. Jesus was also a very real man who did wonderful things on this earth so why do people have a problem reading His stories in His Book. The Bible is A Wonderful Book that has stood the test of time. God created everything and without him there was nothing. Man may have become clever at most things but show me just one who can tame the wind, tornadoes, floods, famines to name but a few. God is everything to me. Walk outside and see the beauty in every tree, flower, bird, sunrise and sunset. Lightening and thunder, colours of the rainbow etc and have a good think about how it all began.
Come on, this analogy is so terrible you must be able to see the problem.
If you had never heard of Captain Cook and I explained to you that he was an omniscient, omnipresent being who loves everyone and wants you to know him you would rightly ask "Well, where is he then?"
After I waffled for a bit about how Captain Cook wants you to have free will re whether you come to know him or not and how faith is a virtue and generally spent some time avoiding the question you'd come to the conclusion the person I was describing did not, in fact exist.
And you'd be right! The being described does not exist with the name "Captain Cook" or any other!
God and His Son, Jesus is my Father and big Brother that I didn't know about until much later of my dying life and met them and my life is, was and always saved and blessed right into eternity where I'll live with them forever.
this he. this son. i don't know either one of them . but god and its greatest of ideas its concept its potential and possible realization . is what i hope in most . and not for the traditional reasons . but only for the goosebumps that come from finally knowing. that my friends is poetry. by me
Nikki: What is this "god" thing you ask about? The bible, the qur'an, the torah, the NT, none of them defines this "god" thing factually." they all mention "it" but only offer opinion as to what "it" is. How/why can you believe in that which cannot be defined, cannot be known, and only exists in the imaginations of believers? TY..
Sir Dent: I don't know. I have only opinions about it to base a thought upon. Can ya Pls define "it" for me in terms other than opinion and conjecture? If ya can, you bet I'd like to know "it." If ya can't though, that would mean, to me, that you are not a credible person to "hub" with about "it." OK?
"I will sweep away everything in all your land," says the LORD. "I will sweep away both people and animals alike. Even the birds of the air and the fish in the sea will die. I will reduce the wicked to heaps of rubble, along with the rest of humanity," says the LORD. "I will crush Judah and Jerusalem with my fist and destroy every last trace of their Baal worship. I will put an end to all the idolatrous priests, so that even the memory of them will disappear. For they go up to their roofs and bow to the sun, moon, and stars. They claim to follow the LORD, but then they worship Molech, too. So now I will destroy them! And I will destroy those who used to worship me but now no longer do. They no longer ask for the LORD's guidance or seek my blessings." (Zephaniah 1:2-6 NLT)
Whoa!! Tiger, I hate to slow your roll, but why are you stuck in the Old Testament? And, why are all of your references to destruction and damnation? There is more in the Bible than that.....
Jesus came to give us life and that more abundantly....why don't you concentrate on that instead of the other......I mean if you aren't on the side of destruction, you won't be destroyed. That's easy, right?
And you don't have to be perfect to get on the right side....After all, you are already accepted by the blood of Jesus Christ.....all you have to do is realize that.
law is knowledge of right/wrong and the temptation/desire to do either one -regardless of consequence.
those who live by law are subject to the rules, consequence and limitations of said laws. (i.e. murder 1st degree, law of attraction, etc etc).
those who live beyond the consciousness of either do not sway right or wrong/have no desire for those things, those thoughts, the desire or temptation of them. Thus, they are not subject/limited to them.
Nikki, The fact that you are asking about God shows that He is already at work in your heart. To answer your question, God means everything to me. He is my father, husband, friend, provider, comforter, protector, healer, counselor ... I can go on and on. He came to this earth in the human form of His Son Jesus Christ so we can get a glimpse of who He is and be reconciled to Him. Without Jesus you cannot get to the Father.
He fed everyone back in the day. Please get your story straight before you start blasting. God cares about everyone. Its a shame you feel that way. Please don't contaminate my thread by your comments, it would be appreciated. If you don't have anything nice to say about God, then please don't comment, thank you .
Why are you guys so angry? If you truly hate God, why do you care if other people love Him or if He loves people or not? What difference does it make if anyone else believes in Him or not.....why do you care? I think you are over occupied with thoughts of God.......
Sorry, your pseudo does nothing for me. Don't put words in my mouth, I do not hate god, there is no god to hate fortunately. I am merely quoting the OT as most religionists would rather "transition" to the NT where there is less psychotic language and so easier to justify. No snake charmin tongue talkin tv evangelists for me thanks. I look forward to see you develop here as a full blooded fundy!
You can't really hate something that doesn't exist. That's like saying you really hate dragons and unicorns or Santa Claus.
I wouldn't care if those beliefs were kept behind closed doors, they aren't. They are forced upon us every day in almost every aspect of society. Religion detests mankind, something I am quite fond of.
Not at all. Just occupied with trying to reason with people who accept the myths and superstitions of the Bronze age as reality.
Otherwise, confusion, war, I'm better than thou attitudes. and centuries of questions like yours. And, still not one answer ever ends the questions. As in, why is someone or something so called all powerful shrouded in such doubt?
Not putting your question or answer down. Just what usually comes to mind. But not allways.
Going to lake Michigan and watching the sunset, or being at one with nature, staring at vast Wilderness and mountains. If this was all created for us by one being...then Bravo.
Thank you I know that some folks don't really understand believing in something unprovable and unknowable but for me the belief fills that gap and gives healing. I don't follow religion because its not religion that gives that sense of healing and completeness but my belief in God does. I guess thats kinda the point, a darned good reason for a person to believe
Praying for someone who doesn't believe in this is kind of insulting. They in my opinion had a bad experience with religion/. God is specially encouraging with disbelievers. We as Christians demonstrates patience, compassion.. . Hi ThePhoneDetective
That would be the typical ignorant repsonse from believers here who are under the impression everyone believes as they do and that others have the ability to think for themselves rather than just follow along like sheep.
No, you don't. That was the point entirely with Daytona who demonstrates a complete lack of compassion.
I also do not appreciate being called ignorant. That is my opinion. I never called you a name. We are Christians. We do not appreciate how you are taking our sentence apart like this and psyching us with them. You r requested not to say anything if you be respectful. We come in peace . Thank you, If you do not like God, so be it. Just do not dis God or me in this group. I for do not appreciate it. Thank you.
In my opinion Daytona has compassion, she meant well when she prayed for you. However, we Christians learn a great deal. Daytona, be careful who you pray for people who do not believe in prayers may not appreciate it. I for know you have compassion. Atheists are different minded. They don't believe in prayers or God in my opinion. In my opinion, they are mislead. Smiles to all.

What a wonderful maker What a wonderful savior How majestic your whispers And how humble your love With a strength like no other And the heart of a father How majestic your whispers What a wonderful God
No assumations I died and came back, hard to believe but I know for a fact. Too many things in life one needs to experience in order to understand. Take a simple thing like fire burns and hurts you, this is experienced by us all and thats when we really comprehend it.
Yes you keep telling us. Hell. So you think it is OK to tell me and others that we and our loved ones are going to hell If we do not believe in your ridiculous conclusions. I think you are unwell, and you can go to your own hell, on behalf of the rest of us who live on this planet who don't believe as you do, I would like to wish you the same demise you wish on us.
You know mohit i disagree with those assumptions of yours to the core and you and i often have disagreements on these theologys topics many times. But ya know, i like your patience and ability to explain things(though can't buy it cause lack of proof).
Because it is an offense. For you, a sinner, a lost soul, is wrong. You pity them, you pray for them, you belittle them. That's what's offensive. And because it is, we are bothered. Is that so difficult to understand ?????
I do not believe ,but you do. So I know that from your point of view I'm a poor lost soul. And it bothers me. How can I be nice & kind, when I know you're thinking that of me ? And those jokes you're talking about, are only that: jokes. Why instead of treating us like sinners, you don't make jokes about us? I don't think that praying for us is a joke. Nor looking down on us for not being 'saved'.
Well, even though we differ on spiritual issues it is wrong and mean to tear another person down for exercising their freedom of thought and choice. Furthermore, I never use the term "saved" when referring to myself. That is a self imposed judgement that none of us in the flesh are qualified to make.
Personally, tantrum, I applaud you for at least having a set of beliefs. Many people don't have that integrity of heart. You will never hear me joking or tearing you down for your feelings.
Thank you all for your comments. We respect everyones feelings. No one will ever be joked about or etc. We are all Gods children each and everyone. Whether you believe it or not. Gods loves us all. Have a great day to all.
Everything good. All love is the Lord and of the Lord. When we help the least we are helping Jesus and are rewarded by his grace and blessings. We were never promised life would be perfect but how we face our trials and still help those around us say who we are. I pray for the Haitians they are some of the poorest of the poor no matter what you believe or don't believe they need our help.
To me They are the pinnacle of freedom. Through the choices we made and the choices given us we are now living in a world where we have the agency to define our path. Justice - absolute justice. This life was never meant to be fair one person to the next. Yet - the common outlook is the same potential whether it be a rich man or a poor woman in a depressed country. Although the potential is the same what we do in this life, because of agency, largely defines that outlook for ourselves. This is part of the true genius of God the Eternal Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. That is what They mean to me. It is mercy and justice that God is no a respector of persons.
No. It's a kick to the groin to rich, comfortable people who pretend to care about the poor while using their suffering as an excuse to bite the hand that feeds them. They don't get any greater chance in the afterlife than the poor. Indeed, they have less chance than the humble.
A ruler, someone who says they may have power, but when it comes down to it, they are powerless, god lets bad things happen and blames it on evil, even though he is supposed to be the master of the universe, he is no He-man.
God is only a word to put us in cages and let our mind be caged!
I am sorry to impose but all these charges against what "God" thinks and supposedly does are perceptions that we as humans have. The various interpretations of God is not His fault but due to various peoples, cultures and histories. There is no wrong in alternate perceptions of God in this life.
Also, He does not blame evil for the things going on here. We do that and unfortuneately many blame Him as well. God's perception of man's potential far exceeds any short term judgements that we feel His places on people. He is far too omnipotent for something as miniscule as that. Only the Adversary has such short-sightedness. The Adversary and us. It narrows our view and potential view to see all the injustice in the world and automatically blame God. The world as we know it was never meant to be perfect. Learning and intelligence cannot be gained through a perfect world.
If that question is for me then the answer is neither. In my view He needs no defending nor does my belief in Him. It is my overall view of the mission and purpose of God that I am trying to express. In that view I see what's beyond the injustice around us. What's beyond - is justice and mercy. It's a matter of are we willing to hold on to that hope long enough to realize it in the end.
The purpose of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit is to bring to pass the immortality and the eternal life of all mankind. All. Those are two separate things, immortality and eternal life. Completely different. Immortality is for all to gain their body with the soul, in permanent condition, during the Resurrection. This is a great gift but even greater is eternal life which all of us regardless of economic status in this life can have equal claim to. It deals with eternal progress, responsibility and authorities.
WE create the separatism. WE create the unity. HE provides eternal life and progression for every man, woman and child who has ever lived, is living and will yet live upon the earth. God is not a respector of persons.
All discussions here need not be an opportunity to "trap" someone. I have not backed myself into a corner. When the time comes that our spirit and body separate we will enter the realm of spirits and, yes, we will be separated into various glories according to how we've lived our lives. It is there that we will be taught and instructed in many things and to await our varied appointed times to be resurrected with our restored bodies.
Up till now all of the posts on this thread dealt with various "injustices" going on in the world whether it be dying children, murder, disease you name it. The afterlife was not mentioned till recently and that's a whole different scoop on things. When in this sphere we are to be amongst one another. As spirits we must be separated to a point.
Wooooooooooooooo, hold on a minute. I never said that one is condemned for not believing. His or her life circumstances may have aided this mindset. This is the beauty of it. We are all taught in simple pure curriculum in the spirit world. We have agency there to accept or reject what we are taught. It's all about personal agency and not vengeance of God.
This is a question I have often wondered about. I was raised with a lot of exposure to different religions (mostly Jewish and different variations of Christianity). I would sometimes get the impression from religious...
