The word consistency implies being the same. If someone responds to something the same way each time we consider them consistent.
However, this created a dilemma for me. How can I keep responding the same way when my understanding of god's will is constantly expanding?
I came up with this:
Christian Consistency implies constantly changing behavior as you put of the old man and put on the new man.
So what may seem to be inconsistent at a superficial level is actually consistent at a deeper 'obedience level'.
How does this tie up with the rigid positions some Christians adopt?
I agree. Ground yourself in the raw foundation upon which to build and then be open throughout your life to further light and knowledge. That's called growth and expansion. To close oneself off to wider fields is to be as the race horse with blinders on in order to keep his sights in one direction only - circles.
