I'm sitting in a coffee shop listening to two older men contemplating and discussing what the reasons are for doing the "right thing". It's a very interesting discussion!
What are you reasons?
Is it to show your children the difference between right and wrong?
Is it because you fear the consequences from breaking a law?
Is it because you fear the consequences of your God or Creator?
Is it your own moral beliefs?
My main reason is my own sense of pride and honor. I feel it's important to be a good person, simply for the sake of being good. I'm not saying I'm always good and my own view of "right and wrong" may be different from others.
But what about you?
*I'll leave off with this old one.
When I was 14 I couldn't stand my father. I thought he was stupid and didn't know a thing. I didn't want to be around him. When I turned 21 I was surprised to find that my father knows quite a bit and is a good person.
I was surprised by how much he had learned in 7 years.
Rather like any typical fourteen year-old, then!
Doing the right thing... I like the way you left room for differences in definitions about "right", and I expect that's one subject which people will debate forever. Each culture, and generation within each culture, has their own ideas about that; and history adds its own perspective, too.
Maybe a person could approach the subject by asking what kind of a life they want to live in the long-term.
...i liked that memory you have of your father....you being 'surprised at how much he learned in 7 years'...

One of my game guides gets 100 views a week, even though the game came out in 2014. When I wrote it, I didn't really think it'd do as well as it is. Have any of your articles done surprisingly well?
