Religion or faith is the knowledge one believes in when one gains consciousness in the society from the society till such time the information or a part of it is proved wrong; then the new information takes place instead of the old one.
Does one agree to it?
I would agree with you concerning all "beliefs" based on physical reality -- the continuity of physical existence, but for knowledge which concerns the discontinuous realm of creation, forgiveness and spiritual awakening, it can never be "proved" wrong, for it is source of creation, not the other way around.
There are many such "beliefs" which have been disproven. That does not mean that all spiritual topics are based on the same temporary footing.
The same thing happens after gaining consciousness from a night of tequila shooters.
