The troubles in life increase human intelligence to adopt measures to eradicate the troubles and also provide us a chance to know the ONE- the Most-Intelligent and seek His help to overcome the troubles.
Had there been no troubles; I think, there won't have been any intelligence?
It's human nature to adapt to it's environment, which of course would increase knowledge and wisdom. Not necessarily would it increase intelligence overall and it's completely irrelevant to the god(ONE) you claim exists.
