Countless time I hear about how Religion that separate families or friends unless you belong to that group's Religion or Cult. At one time my brother and I had a very close relationship, today, my Bro is a pastor. He dose not even sent me as much as a Christmas card. My Ex wife was a Baha’i She tried to steel my Daughter away from me. Right now I am living with a guy who is divorcing his wife over Religion and they are both Christian's. This is the main reason I came on HP, in order to understand Religion better.

Any of you out there, have had similar problems with Religion's?

LoL  Gee, that makes me feel better

Well,  I do have a few find healthy relationships with religious people, since they totally surround us, anyway

Nobody else had a family member's mind and body snatched away from a Cult group

I'd never heard of anyone's family member being stolen away by the Lutherans before. Lutherans are generally pretty laid back.

Are you sure you and your brother don't have other issues to work out besides religious differences?

But yeah, in my younger days I've had people refuse to go out with me because of my religion--or I ought to say, because of their religion. My religion never told me not to date anyone, not to be friends with anyone, not to treat anyone with anything less than respect and kindness.

This is not to say that I've never been disrespectful or unkind to anyone. I have, to my shame. But if I treated someone disrespectfully or unkindly, it was because of me, not because of my religion.

Some people do like to use their religion as an excuse to be a jerk, though. Sounds like you've had dealings with several of them.

When I say cult, it is a short form for a kind of culture which a hardcore members, who over dwells within their group. I do respect everyone, just feel I'm shut out by their group in my case to their limited thinking from just one book..

More people say they are spiritual rather than Religious,
Maybe it's these kinds of people i'LL move more of my attention to and  hang out more often with them.

        Thanks

      No. But I believe.

For your brother being a Pastor he should not turn the other cheek, he should embrace you. There has to be deeper rooted issues for your roommate to Divorce his wife, even though they are both Christians. As for your ex-wife I really have not studied Baha'i so I do not know if that had anything to do with her trying to take your daughter. If it is because you do not believe in any general religion then that is wrong.

My brother says I do not support his spiritual journey. What's that? the flight of the 99% unknown world and Universe of the wild blue yonder.

Ex Wife con artist is the worst mistake of my life , I married her within 3 months and she wiped my out of my bank accounts several times. She got a green card out of the deal and used the Baha'i as a smoke screen. Then my daughter is another cash cow brainwashed story, lucky she followed my foot steps after she hit age 18 and now become a great artist, better than me at her age.

The guy  l'm living with, gave $700,000 to his church with his wife blessing. Then she claim he is a monster and a cult and he claims she stolen his 3 kids and the bitching goes on and it drives me nuts, day after day.

Maybe my roommate and brother are just too hardcore of a Christian for me to understand.

It's not Christianity that's the problem, but people being spoofed with the crap that the Church tells them.

There is a presumption that the pastor is speaking under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and so members are conditioned to accept what is being preached without question. When some other Church pastor says something contradictory, also alledgedly under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, then we have a logic problem. This results in church denominations.

It  seems my Brother ego as a pastor has gone out of balance. The only thing I think could work on is just keep sending him my love anyways. That's all I could do when my EX had stolen and brainwash my daughter. Afterward my Daughter admits she was brainwash and today the good time roll with her.

Thanks everyone this venting is helping.. keep it coming

No brain, no pain i guess, to me it would mean greater suffering over the 99% unknown spiritual Universe because i can't find good or god enough answer from one book.

It is a shame that your brother would act that way, religion can bring out the worst in people.

I am a Pagan and I love everyone and everything equally as an equality of feeling, even if my mind does not too much care for other mind's thinking.

I get you, know you’re self

If one wonders, where is the source of my problems?

There it is, it's in my mind
