The iliad is as old as the bible

Why not worship the iliad? If it's so important to worship antiquity, why not make a religion of all of it? It would save the bloodshed, everyone would see the differences as the same. In the end, it's all just a bunch of primitive reasoning as is. Have we not moved beyond blindly following corpses or are we just getting dumber?

My take on it is that we are not getting "dumber," rather getting more and more frightened of the way our world is, right now.

The world population is getting much larger.  (Maybe 2 1/2 billion when I was born in early 1940s, around 7 billion today.) Depletion of resources, social upheaval, mass migration for one reason or another, corruption in government, greed, hypocrisy, destruction of cultures, doubt, wars, climactic changes with extreme weather phenomena, etc..... all these negatives drive us to despair.

To counteract them, many people turn to what they assume to be certainty.  Religion gives voice to certainty.  It's something people can believe in, even if they see no evidence.  The stronger the religious message and the more attractive the evangelists are, the more intense the devotion to a philosophy.

Add individuals who's main intention is to make a lot of money, quickly, and then you have a world disaster looming.
