The Great Tribulation - Comments and Responses

The Lord Jesus Christ is Coming Again after the Great Tribulation. Prepare to Meet Him !

We have been taught that Christians will be secretly raptured (snatched up) to heaven with the Lord Jesus Christ before the Great Tribulation occurs, so we should not be too concerned about it.

What you have been taught is incorrect. The Lord Jesus Christ Himself said that He would return after the Great Tribulation and not before. "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other." (Mt. 24:29-31) These words of the Lord Jesus Christ show very clearly that Christians (the elect) will still be on the earth during the Great Tribulation (Mt. 24:21-22). If this is so then we have to prepare ourselves on how to overcome the difficulties during this period of great trials and tribulations.

Ministers have been preaching the Great Tribulation for many years. The world has gone through two World Wars, the Great Depression and the 911 terrorist attacks, but we have survived all of them. We can just let the Great Tribulation pass by and then we'll recover and get back to normalcy again. Let us not get too worried about it.

What the ministers preached in the past about the Great Tribulation are warnings about a very difficult time of great calamity that is going to happen. The two World Wars, the Great Depression and the 911 terrorist attacks cannot be compared to the Great Tribulation, not even close. The Lord Jesus Christ said the Great Tribulation is "such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, not ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake those days will be shortened." (Mt. 24:21-22) He is describing the Great Tribulation as an unprecedented event which is so horrible that if God does not shorten the days no one would be saved. Immediately after the Great Tribulation the Lord Jesus Christ will return to take the elect (true believers) with Him to heaven.

The Great Tribulation is the Wrath of God which is sent to punish the wicked unbelievers. Christians will escape the Great Tribulation because "God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ." (1 Thes. 5:9)

While it is true that "God did not appoint us to wrath", but the Great Tribulation is not the wrath of God. The "wrath of God" is the judgment poured out on those who have rejected Jesus Christ and His righteousness. Since believers are not guilty, they cannot be punished and will not suffer the wrath of God (1 Thes. 1:10).

There is a distinction between the two words "wrath" (Greek orge) and "tribulation" (Greek thlipsis). Both words involve the suffering of the effected parties. However, the causes of the suffering are quite different. Tribulation is the unrighteous persecution of believers by unbelievers (Mt. 24:9-13). Wrath is the righteous punishment of God poured out on those who reject Him (Col. 3:6).

True believers will not suffer the wrath of God, but will be taken to Places of Refuge and Safety (Rev. 12:13-16). The Lord Jesus Christ instructed His disciples to "flee to the mountains" before the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. True believers in the End Time will also be taken to Places of Refuge and Safety.

The Lord Jesus Christ instructed His disciples, "And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no nor ever shall be." (Mt. 24:20-21) What does the winter and the Sabbath have to do with the Great Tribulation, and how do we apply them to today's conditions?

The prophecies and teachings given by the Lord Jesus Christ to His disciples on the Mount of Olives (Matthew 24) concerning the Great Tribulation refer to two events. The first event is the Destruction of Jerusalem and the temple in 70 AD (Mt. 24:15-20). The second event occurs before the Lord's Second Coming (Mt. 24:29-31). Jesus Christ's reference to the "winter" and "Sabbath" are applied to both events because the disciples will go through the winter and observe the Sabbath regardless of the time or epoch.

Jesus Christ's instruction to the disciples to pray that their "flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath" is a good advice and a warning for them to make full preparation for evacuation to the Place of Refuge long before the situation gets extremely difficult. Winter is cold and not a good time for traveling long distances. Here is an indication that Places of Refuge should not be located in areas where the winter conditions are bad. Christians living in cold climate countries or states should consider relocating to Places of Refuge in warmer regions.

The instruction to pray that the flight may not be on the Sabbath is because it is a Holy Day for worshiping God and also for rest. It also indicates the true Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ would still be observing the Seventh Day Sabbath in 70 AD and also in the End Time. True disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ would "keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ." (Rev. 12:17; 14:12) "For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."(Rev. 19:10)

Here is the guideline for someone looking to join a good Place of Refuge that is blessed and protected by God. It has to be centered on the Lord Jesus Christ, keep all the Ten Commandments including observance of the Seventh Day Sabbath, and also it has to be located in an area that has a moderate climate.

U.S. President Obama has said many times that America is no longer a Christian nation, but is now a nation of Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and many other religions.  America has allowed all kinds of false religions such as Atheism and Satanism to flourish, and also has encouraged the murder of the unborn children and same sex marriage (homosexuality and sodomy) which is an abomination to God.  Some ministers say that Judgment is coming to America and have likened America to a modern  Babylon .  There is a "voice from heaven saying, 'Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues." (Rev. 18:4).  Is this God's instruction telling Christians to leave America and live in other countries?  Is Israel a good place for Christians to live in the End Time to await the Lord's return?

President Obama is absolutely correct in saying that America is no longer a Christian nation. If America has been a Christian nation in 2008 he would certainly not have been elected as president. No true Christian majority in America would have voted for a presidential candidate who states one does not have to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved and get to heaven; that abortion and homosexuality are acceptable, and who does not acknowledge that life begins at conception. The election results are an indictment on America.

In the past America has been a blessed nation because her God is the LORD (Psm. 33:12). America has not only lost the blessings of God but is now under His judgment. American evangelist Billy Graham once said, "If God does not judge America soon, He will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah." The Bible states, "As Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, have given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire." (Jude 7) Judgment is coming to America. Not if, but when! Many warning signs indicate it will be SOON!

Is this God's instruction telling Christians to leave America and live in other countries? Where would you want to live? The Great Tribulation affects the whole world (Mt. 24:21-22; Lk. 21:34-36; Rev. 3:10) The Word of God says, "We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one." (1 Jn. 5:19) Even the Lord Jesus Christ called Satan the "ruler of this world" (John 12:31; 14:30; 16:11). America was once a Christian nation, but now it is no longer true. In terms of living conditions America is still better than many other countries in the world.

What about moving to Israel and live there? There are several factors that affect the decision of why an American Christian family moving from America to Israel is not a good one.

1. An American Christian family who does not speak, read or write Hebrew will have a rough and tough time getting an initial adjustment to living in that country.

2. Israel has an unemployment rate of 7.3 %. A foreigner who does not speak, read or write the Hebrew language will have difficulty finding a job to support his family.

3. There are still unresolved conflicts between Jews and Palestinians often resulting in violence.

4. There are several reports of Messianic Jews being persecuted in Israel.

CHRISTIAN JEWS ARRESTED, PERSECUTED IN ISRAEL

http://lists.wald.intevation.org/pipermail/openvas-distro-deb/2009-January/000080.html

5. There is a constant threat of invasion and annihilation of Israel by Iran and other Arab nations.

6. Israel will be invaded by Gog (Ezek 38 and 39), and the Last World War Armageddon will be fought in Israel (Rev.16:12-16).

7. Going through the Great Tribulation in Israel is unbearable. Believers in Israel should flee from that country just like what the Lord Jesus Christ had instructed His disciples on the Mount of Olives.

The Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is a world wide event that will be witnessed by people all over the world. One does not have to be in Israel to welcome Him. "Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, and they also who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen." (Rev. 1:7)

It is highly recommended that Christians should find Places of Refuge in the country that they are presently living. Those can be Places that others are preparing or they can prepare ones for themselves.

What is the ideal Place of Refuge during the Great Tribulation and how to join it?

If you want to set up a Place of Refuge of your own then you can list your own set of ideal conditions, but if you want to join a community that is organizing a Place of Refuge then you have to accept whatever conditions that are provided by the organizer. Here are a few pointers that can help you choose which one to join and not to join.

1. Make sure that it is not a religious cult that takes all your possessions and controls your life. The religious cult usually has a strong, powerful and charismatic leader who claims to be sent by God to save the exclusive community from destruction and doom. In America there are several religious cults that ended in disaster.

a. One is the Branch Davidian of Waco, Texas. David Koresh (born August 17, 1959 - April 19, 1993) was the leader of the Branch Davidian religious sect, believing himself to be its final prophet. A 1993 raid by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and subsequent siege by the FBI ended with the burning of the Branch Davidian ranch. Koresh, 54 adults and 21 children were found dead after the fire, though the time of death is in dispute.

b. James Warren Jones (1931-1978) known as Jim Jones was the pastor of the People's Temple which was initially structured as an inter-racial mission for the sick, homeless and jobless. He assembled a large following of over 900 members in IndianapolisIN during the 1950s, then in San Francisco and Los Angeles and later moved to Jonestown, Guyana in the 1970s. Jones developed a belief called Translation in which he and his followers would all die together, and would move to another planet for a life of bliss. Mass suicide was practiced in which his followers drank poison. In all, 914 died: 638 adults and 276 children. Some sources say 911 died. Their bodies were in a state of extensive decay when the authorities arrived.

2. Pray and ask the Lord Jesus Christ to guide you to join a Place of Refuge in a community in which you can purchase and own a property and have a legal title that is filed and registered with the CountyClerk's Office. The minimum size of the land for one family of four should be one acre. It may not be large enough to raise many cows and horses, but good enough for goats, sheep, chickens and also plant fruits and vegetables. The price of the land varies from county to county. At this point of writing the most sought after area in Texas is in Washington County which is literally "a land which flows with milk and honey." (Num. 14:8) Another reason for this region's popularity is its close proximity to Houston (about 80 miles from Downtown) and also it is beyond the Hurricane Safety Line which is 100 miles from the GulfCoast. Many Houstonians have been buying land in Washington County as Places of Refuge after Hurricane Rita (2005) and Hurricane Ike (2008). Washington County has a minimum requirement of one and a half acre for rural land. A 1-1/2 acre land that has direct access from Washington County roads with utilities such as electricity and telephone costs from $30,000 to $50,000 depending on its location. Some lands are available to believers of my same faith at $16,000 to $20,000 per acre and above.

3. The best way to acquire land for a Place of Refuge is to make full payment for it in cash, so that there will be total freedom from debt. Due to the recent bank failures in America some buyers want to stay clear of bank loans. Actually bank failures are not the fault of the banks, but are due mainly to the massive number of toxic sub prime loans that home owners default in their payments because they are not qualified to purchase the homes in the first place.

Some land buyers look for owner-financed properties which are not easy to find. Sellers do not like to finance such sales because, for various purposes, they want to generate positive cash flow from the sales through financial institutions. Besides, they do not want to have the extra burden of collecting monthly payments, and also possibly having the unpleasant task of foreclosing the property due to default in payments. In these unstable times few sellers want to take unnecessary risks of financing the sale of their own properties.

There are several financial institutions (may not be banks) in Texas that finance new owners for rural properties.

I was wondering if other Messianic families have connected with you on forming a Place of Refuge in different parts of the USA. We would like to join a group that is forming. . . to create a place for others to join in the endtimes. However, we are looking more in the southwest . . CO, UT, NM, AZ. We would rather stay out of TX and areas that have been reported to have FEMA camps in close range. We would like to join with others who want to share faith, lives, and resources to acquire land in a hidden place of safety. Also being self supportive. . . growing own food, etc...

If you could link us with any such groups or families that would be great.

Thanks so much,

Shalom,

Barbara

Dear Barbara,

There must be other believers who are preparing Places of Refuge in other states, but they do not reveal who they are and where they are preparing. Sorry, I cannot help you. I do not know of any other Places of Refuge in other states that you specify. Be very careful not to join a cult.

We at ARK Community are open and transparent because we are preaching the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and the End Time message, and we are also warning others of the impending judgment that is coming to America. Noah was a "preacher of righteousness" (2 Pet. 2:5) and the ark he and his family were preparing is so large that it was no secret to the people living in his time. You can read about us on this web site: http://www.geocities.com/ark_community/9-arkcommunity.htm

Some people are afraid that the government may use the FEMA Hurricane shelters as "concentration camps" like the Nazis did during the Second World War. The FEMA Hurricane shelters in the three cities in Texas use school facilities to house people temporarily for a short duration during the hurricane season. We do not know what the government will do in the future, but we trust in God's protection and provision. The devil will even"surround the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them." (Rev. 20:9)

We at ARK Community do not go around and urge people to come and join us. Only those that the LORD has moved to come, will come. Go to our Hub "Watch and Pray to escape the Great Tribulation -->http://hubpages.com/hub/watchpraytribulation

Keep in touch. May God bless you. Shabbat Shalom!

There are and will be three groups of believers on the earth. One is the Church will be taken before tribulation. Second 144000 Jewish believers will rapture in the mid tribulation. Saints of great tribulation rapture at the end of tribulation. I do not understand that you major on bad things instead of good news. You do not have an idea what great tribulation is. With all respect. Slicha

Which is worse, dying on a cross or being a Christian that was torn apart by a hungry lion? Do you think the bible story would have been more impressive if Jesus had taken the lion path for his human death and then re-appeared whole after a lion tore him apart?

Thanks Vladimir for your comments. Your view of the three raptures would mean that the Lord Jesus Christ will return three times. The Bible states very clearly that the Lord will return a second time. “so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.” (Heb. 9:28)

You wrote: “I do not understand that you major on bad things instead of good news.”

In my other hub I wrote about the good news of why Christians have to go through the Great Tribulation.

http://hubpages.com/religion-philosophy/christians

Why does God let Christians go through the Great Tribulation ?

· To Sanctify the Church with the Truth The Lord Jesus Christ prayed to the Father: “I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.” (John 17:15-17) “that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water with the word, that He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that it should be holy and without blemish.” (Eph. 5:26-27)

· To Strengthen the Faith of the Believers “strengthening the souls of the Disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, ‘We must through many tribulations enter the Kingdom of God.”(Acts 14:22)

· To Test the Faith of the Believers “In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, it need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” (1 Pet. 1:6-7) Will Christians escape the Sufferings during the Great Tribulation ? According to the New Testament God would take care of the Christians during the Great Tribulation, but they would still be in the world at that time.

· “Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.” (Rev. 3:10)

· “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man." (Lk. 21:34-36)

· The Lord Jesus Christ said that Christians would escape the Great Tribulation only if they would watch (be alert) and pray always.

I get a bit confused by all the differing ways supposedly "true Chrsitians" talk about revelations. Your view is one I've heard before, but I watched one group of believers chastise another for "getting it all wrong." How is anyone supposed to take this seriously when everyone speaking claims to be a true Christian and yet they all disagree?

About 1,000 years ago the Chrsitian world was also embroiled in this controversy about the "end of days" and the second coming. They got it wrong, even with tons of Biblical evidence supposedly on their side. What makes you think you got it right? What do you say to those who disagree with your interpretations? What if THEY are right?
