How To Find God

Updated on May 4, 2016

How to find God

How to find God.

I have known and walked with God for years. He is real. If you get to know him you will never regret it - forever.

God said,

"There you will look for the Lord your God, and if you search for him with all your heart, you will find him." Deuteronomy 4:29 (TEV)

How to find God. The search of many. But where are they looking for him. Here is a thought to start you in God's direction.

In your mind go into a deep jungle setting. Now watch a native cut a tree down. Next he takes his pocket knife, ax, hatchet, machete or what ever, and begins carving it. He makes himself a god. Paints it, bows down to it and worships it. Is that how to find God? He has a homemade god.

IT WON'T WORK

No good. It cannot even help it's self. Let alone the poor guy that carved it out. His god depends on him. Not good enough. Thats not how to find God.

THINK

You are smarter than that, I think. But how many people have you heard say, "Oh! I could not believe in a god like that. A god that would allow etc., etc., etc." Just like the native. They are making up a god in their own mind. No good. Home made gods don't work. We need to find God. Not make him. That's not how to find God.

WHERE TO LOOK

God himself said, "God is Spirit," And he refers to himself as "he", "him", etc. then that is what he is. He knows a whole lot more about himself than we know about him. And if he says he is a "he" and is "Spirit", that is what he is, and where we better look for him, in the spirit realm.

That puts us in a different dimension, a realm of things we cannot see. Like, electromagnetic waves or pulse. Like radiation. Or even the thoughts in your head. I cannot see them, so they do not exist, do they??? (I could not pass that up.) We have to turn our "receiver" on and begin dialing in to God's wave length so he can communicate with us in the spiritual realm. He made us so we can.

The God I want connected to is the one who made matter to start with. The one who made the universe. The one who is the very source of life. The one who gives me life and whom you and I will stand before someday in judgement to give an account of ourselves.

"Christ is the visible likeness of the invisible God. He is the first-born Son, superior to all created things. For through him God created everything in heaven and on earth, the seen and the unseen things, including spiritual powers, lords, rulers, and authorities. God created the whole universe through him and for him. - Colossians 1:15,16 (TEV)

That is the God we want to be connected with. But there is a problem. We have messed up. By nature we go away from God instead of toward him. God through the apostle said, "...everyone has sinned and is far away from God's saving presence. ... For sin pays it's wage - death;" - Romans 3:23 & 6:23 (TEV)

Isn't everyone going to die anyway? Our bodies, yes. But even a superificial reading of the Scriptures shows us that the true concern is the real you. The spiritual you. Because we have gone our own way instead of God's, when our body dies, our real self will go to a Devil's hell to burn forever in an eternal death. [Not popular, I know. But that is what God says.]

That is all the more reason we need to know how to find God.

JESUS CHRIST

But the one who made us LOVES US. He loves us so much that he came down from heaven and became a man - in English we call him, Jesus Christ. Then offered up himself as a sacrifice in our place to pay for our sin. Then he rose from death the third day proving he was God.

You can't buy the pardon his death pays for. You can't earn it. But you can receive it. The Scriptures say, "For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life. -John 3:16 (TEV)

"No one can please God without faith, for whoever comes to God must have faith that God exists and rewards those who seek him." - Hebrews 11:6 (TEV)

The apostle quoted above also said, "...I preached that they must repent of their sins and turn to God and do the things that would show they had repented." - Acts 26:20 (TEV)

Repent is to turn. To change your mind and go another direction to find God.

God's word say's,

"The Lord is not slow to do what he has promised, as some think. Instead, he is patient with you, because he does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants all to turn away from thier sins." -2 Peter 3:9 (TEV)

Did you see that? God don't want us to die and go to an eternal torment. He wants us to turn from our own way and go with him.

O.K., how?

1. Confess to God that you have messed up bad. There is nothing to bad for him to forgive.

A truth that will help you here. God knows you better than you do. He knows your mind, your thoughts and even your motives. You cannot fool him. So wherher you call out to him aloud or truely rise your heart and mind to him - he can hear you.

2. Repent. Tell him you are going to turn and go with him from now on instead of your own way. You are going to let him rule your life from here on - and mean it.

3. Tell him you accept his gift of eternal life that is offered through the death of Jesus Christ on your behalf. You believe it and accept it by faith.

The same apostle we have been quoting said, "If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from death, you will be saved. For it is by our faith that we are put right with God; it is by our confession that we are saved." - Romans 10:9,10 (TEV)
