Coach Wayne - $5 Gymnastics and Tumbling Fun for Kids of All Ages.
Since we are a one income family of four, I am constantly on the look out for fun and exciting ways to entertain my two toddlers on a budget.
While our idea of fun usually entails spending time in our local parks or libraries, visiting museums on free museum days, and playing board games as a family, recently I have been searching for something a little different for my extremely active girl.
About two months ago I found just the thing - an open gymnastics and tumbling gym for kids.
* Coach Wayne’s Gymnastics and Tumbling - To the Rescue?
One evening, as my family and I strolled through the upper level of one our local shopping malls, we stumbled across what looked like an empty store space full of tumbling mats, balance beams, and other gymnastics equipment specifically made for children.
Upon further inspection, we learned that this was one of the new locations for Coach Wayne Gymnastics.
Founded by Coach Wayne Evans - a coach with over 33 years of gymnastics experience - Coach Wayne Gymnastics provides 18 month olds to teens with a unique year-round program curriculum that challenges their own individual gymnastics and tumbling skills in a safe and controlled environment.
* Five Dollar Fridays - Really?
As we stood thinking that there was no way possible our two little ones would be able to participate in the fun and exciting world of gymnastics and tumbling, I picked up a small handbill that advertised $5 Friday gymnastic sessions.
These sessions; unlike the private sessions provided during the week; are open to the public and provide fun, supervised open gym sessions for kids of all ages between the hours of 4-8p.m.
Five dollars per child provides non-member children with 30 minutes (60 minutes for members) of all the gymnastics and tumbling fun they can handle. Amazingly enough, the entire gym is at their disposal.
They can play on everything from the balance beam, tumble on the tumbling mats, jump, bounce, and roll on long bouncing pads, swing on the gymnastic bars, learn how to use a vaulting board, crawl through portable floor tunnels, and much more.
In addition to the use of the equipment, the floor space allows for running, skipping, and doing as many flips and cartwheels as your child can handle.
* Safety is Key.
With a motto that encourages the commitment: “Have fun, Be safe, Push hard” , Coach Wayne Gymnastics has trainers on hand to teach your children how to safely have fun.
As well as showing your child how to tumble, jump and flip correctly, the spotters/trainers will show them how to use the available equipment responsibly and safely.
It is vital to note however, that safety is a major concern even before playtime begins.
On the very first visit, a small information sheet is completed with vital information that includes emergency contact numbers, as well as any of your child's allergies or any special conditions that may affect their performance. In addition, on each visit your child is fitted with a wrist band with their name printed on it, identifying who they are in the event they are separated from their parents.
While the spotters/trainers are very good about keeping an eye on things, to raise the safety bar, parents are encouraged to stay and take in all the fun and excitement.
* Depending on their budget, most parents simply stay for 30 minutes, while others may stay longer. Whatever your choice, keep in mind that non-members will pay $5 for every 30 minutes they stay, while members will pay the same amount for every 60 minutes they stay.
* Fun for Mom and Dad .
The interactive gym experience is not just for the kids. Moms and Dads can get involved as well.
In addition to helping their kids use the available equipment, parents can jump, roll, and play along with their children as they have fun learning how to improve their balance and coordination skills.
On the other hand, if parents rather sit and watch their children from the sidelines, then that is an option as well. All in all, the Coach Wayne Gymnastics $5 Fridays experience is one the entire family can enjoy.
In addition to introducing your child to the fun and exciting world of gymnastics and tumbling, it is a great way for families to spend time together all the while getting fit and staying active.
Just bring your kids, have them wear comfortable clothes that are conducive to tumbling, flipping, and playing, and have fun!
