ICC has stripped Pakistan from its hosting rights from hosting World Cup cricket matches because of the 2009 attack on Sri Lankan team in Lahore. Official event ambassador for ICC World Cup Cricket 2011 is Indian master blaster Sachin Tendulkar. The Opening Ceremony will be held in Bangladesh on 17 February 2011, venue will be Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka.

Symbols

Stumpy is the official mascot for the 2011 World cup cricket matches. Stumpy was unveiled at a function in Colombo, Sri Lanka on 2 April 2010. Cricket followers of all over the world participated in a contest to name the mascot conducted by International cricket Council.

Official Song

The official song of 2011 World Cup cricket matches “De Ghum Ke” is composed by the music director trio Shankar-Ehasaan-Loy from India. It has been sung by Shankar Maadevan and Divya Kumar. It comprises Indian rhythms along with rock and hip hop. The song will be performed in the Opening Ceremony in Bangladesh on February 17, 2011.
