2013/14 Europa League: AS Jeunesse Esch advances to second qualifying round
TPS Turku needed a miracle to advance to the second qualifying round of this years Europa League tourney. AS Jeunesse Esch defeated TPS 2-0 in the first leg of their matchup in La Frontiere in Esch-sur-Alzette Luxembourg. Goals from Benichou and Wang gave Esch this lead that gives the club from Luxembourg a great chance of advancing.
Turku Stadium in Turku, Finland is the sight of the second leg. TPS came in with a big obstacle ahead of them. They were given a free goal when Vitali of Esch scored an own goal putting TPS up 1-0. TPS had to use a subustation early into the match when Brown came in to replace Hradecky in 29th minute. The winner of this matchup will face Airbus UK Broughton or Ventspils in second qualifying round.

With TPS up 1-0 at half but down 2-1 on aggregate to Esch they needed a big second half to advance. Esch also was looking to add a goal which would basically be a dagger to the heart for TPS.
In 48th minute Wang of Esch had an attempt on goal but Lehtovoara of TPS saved it. Play started heating up after this. Kintziger of Esch picked up a yellow in 52nd minute. Tanska of TPS missed the target during same minute. Ricardo Delgado of Esch missed the target during 53rd minute.
In the 57th minute Brown of TPS hit the woodwork that would have gave TPS a 2-0 lead. Lahde of TPS received a yellow card in 57th minute. Not to be outdone Esch's Benichou missed the target during 60th minute. TPS needed some fresh blood so in 61st minute Hyyrynen came in to replace Hurme. Brown missed another golden chance for TPS as he missed from the penalty spot in 66th minute. In 67th minute Makinen came in while Nyberg went out for TPS.
Esch started to turn the heat up. Collette put a free kick on goal during 71st minute. It was saved by Lehtovoara. Esch started bringing in fresh blood when Piskor came in for Moreira in 72nd minute. Benichou of Esch received a yellow card in 78th minute. TPS's Aaritalo put an attempt on goal but Esch's Oberaveis saved it.
Success for ESch came in 80th minute when Wang scored to level this leg at one but gave them a 3-1 aggregate lead. Esch was not done putting on the pressure as Collette missed the target again. Esch started changing players as Agovic came in while Wang exited in 84th minute. Albanese came in for Kintziger in 86th minute.
TPS strucked back in 88th minute when Riski scored giving his club a 2-1 lead in this leg but TPS still trailed 3-2 overall. Riski was given a yellow card also. Esch took control and didn't give TPS another chance. Ibrahimovic of Esch had an attempt on goal but Lehtovaara saved it during stoppage time. Piskor of Esch was given a yellow card also in stoppage time.
The final score was a 2-1 victory for TPS but 3-2 for Esch on aggregate.
