A Great Pre-Race Meal
Chocolate Chip Pancakes
Most runners run a race every two to three weeks during their road-racing season. Some only once a month. Regardless, runners are a diverse lot that cherish their favorite pre-race meal. Whether the meal is pizza, pasta, or another carbo-loading gastronomical delights. Here is a pre-race meal that is sure to provide the necessary ingredients for a personal best the next morning.
Chocolate Chip Pancakes.
As the great celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse would say, “Yeah Baby!”
Everyone has his or her favorite pancake mix. For the purposes of this recipe my selection will be the Bisquick brand. As directed on the back of the box you will need the following:
2 cups of Original Bisquick mix.
1 cup of Chocolate milk.
1 cup of Chocolate chips.
1 tablespoon of Ovaltine chocolate milk mix for additional vitamins and flavor.
Mix all the ingredients as directed on the box.
Cook in pan or on a griddle until beautiful brown.
Enjoy! Run Well !!
Once done, stack or overlay on a plate, top with whip cream and more chocolate chips. Drizzle a little chocolate, caramel, or butterscotch syrup. For a trifecta of flavor you may wish to sprinkle a mix of peanut butter, dark chocolate, and chocolate mint chips on top of your stack.
On the side prepare a bowl of your favorite fruit: strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, melon, or other delicious fruit. Bam! You have a wonderful carbo-rich and nutritious pre-race meal.
Race Day Morning
An English muffin with some jam and a cup of black coffee is great race day meal. It is light and will not weigh you down. Remember to hit the thunder box before you venture out to your race. Good luck and happy running.
