Australia Vs SriLanka Third Odi Finals at Adelaide - Who Will Win?

Australia Has No Genuine Fast Bowlers in Its Side

Kulasekara Hit the Aussie Bowlers All Over the Ground

The triangular series, also called the Commonwealth Bank odi series is at last coming to a conclusion with tomorrow’s match. The third final between Australia and SriLanka is scheduled to take place at the Adelaide Oval tomorrow morning. In the first finals played at Brisbane, SriLanka narrowly lost after putting up a good and spirited fight. Even the SriLanka tail-enders blasted the Aussie bowlers in that match with Kulasekara leading the fight with a scintillating 73 runs scored off 43 balls. In the second finals played at Adelaide yesterday, SriLanka defeated Australia in an authoritative style by eight wickets. The Aussie bowlers were hit by Jayawardene, Dilshan, Sangakkara and Chandimal all over the field.

Warner Effect Cannot Impact SriLanka

SriLanka enters tomorrow’s finals as the favourite. The Aussie confidence has been dented. No doubt Australia has the fighting spirit in them. They never give up hope and fight till the last ball is bowled. Warner is in tremendous form. In the first finals at Brisbane, coming as an opener, he hit 163 runs and was out in the last over of the innings. In the second finals at Adelaide yesterday, Warner scored a century along with his captain Clarke. But inspite of Warner’s heroic knock, SriLanka came close to winning the Brisbane match. SriLanka actually won the Adelaide match. SriLanka are in a commanding position to totally ignore the Warner effect. Whether Warner scores another century or not, SriLanka is bound to outplay Australia in tomorrow’s match and lift the Cup. This is the position at present. This causes worry in the Aussie camp. They shiver to think what will be their fate if Warner fails to score substantially in tomorrow’s match, as is likely to happen. Theory of probability and Law of Averages indicate that Warner could fail in tomorrow’s match. In that case, it will be a cake walk for SriLanka.

Australia Has No Genuine Fast Bowlers in Its Side

The present Australian side has no speed express bowlers like Jeff Thomson or Denis Lillee. Their bowling weakness has been amply exposed in recent times. SriLanka has understood this fact fully and their batsmen are brimming with confidence. That a tail ender like Kulasekara could smash the Aussie bowling attack indicates the state of affairs in the Aussie camp.

Indian Fans Wanted Lee’s Skull Broken

In the past, when Australia had fast bowlers, they behaved arrogantly as though they were on the top of the world. Thomson and Lillee openly stated that they would be targeting at the SriLanka batsmen’s skulls and not at their stumps. They did it in fact and several SriLanka batsmen were sent to hospitals because of the injury they received from the bouncers bowled by Thomson and Lillee in the 1975 World Cup.
Even recently in the last World Cup in 2011, Mitchell Johnson stated that he would break the Indian opener Sehwag’s ribcage. The Aussie bowlers could not break Sehwag’s ribcage, but Brett Lee was injured on his head while trying to stop a boundary hit and was bleeding. With blood flowing profusely from his head, Lee came back to bowl. Suresh Raina hooked the first ball for a six to demonstrate who was on top. The Indian crowd applauded when Lee was injured and bleeding instead of sympathising with him. It should be noted that the England captain Douglas Jardine and his bowler Harold Larwood never received any physical attack in Australia for their bodyline plan which injured several Australian batsmen in the 1932-33 series. But when they landed in the Bombay harbour, they were beaten by an Indian angry mob. Indian crowd cannot tolerate if you indulge in foul play.

SriLanka Are the Favourites to Win the Cup

I feel Australia would be better off if they chase the target tomorrow. That is because SriLanka batting is much superior to their bowling. SriLanka batsmen can chase any target and win the Cup whereas SriLanka bowlers may find it difficult to bowl out the Aussies or to contain them. But if early wickets fall either for Australia or SriLanka, the match could be lost because of this. Cricket is a game of glorious uncertainties. Notwithstanding the impressive performance and current form SriLanka has now, it can still lose and Australia can still win the tomorrow’s crucial finals. One can only say that SriLanka are the favourites to clinch the series but one can never bet confidently on it.

But,we all know that Australians are great fighters and they can handle the pressure easily. Its clear that in the case of mind power and positivity,Asian teams such as India,Pakistan and Srilanka are way behind of Ausies...so chances are more for Australians...

I think it could be Sri Lanka's series. With the Aussie injuries the Sri Lankan's have the chance to get some silverware.

Kulasekara never scored 73 off 53 balls. He scored 73 off 43 balls. Please correct it.
