picnic baskets, picnic sets, picnic backpacks

It’s almost here – picnic season! After being cooped up all winter because of the rain, snow, sleet, and cold, most of us are more than anxious to enjoy some time outdoors in the sunshine and fresh air. If you're like me, you'll be suffering from "cabin fever" by the end of January, if you're not already. What better way to say adios to winter than with a picnic? On the first warm, sunny day of spring, round up your family or friends and treat them to a great outdoor meal and a little fun in the sun. Choose a place to go, gas up the car, make some tasty foods, and pack your picnic basket. What’s that? You don’t have a picnic basket? Well, dear reader, continue below for some info on the subject!

Types of picnic baskets and carriers

If you enjoy picnics, you really need a picnic basket. You can find all sorts of picnic baskets online without ever having to leave your warm, snug home. Some of the handiest picnic baskets are those that come complete with everything you’ll need – except for the food, of course. These picnic sets come with plates, knives, forks, spoons, and/or tablecloths. Many of these picnic baskets come with neat compartments that hold all the accessories safe and sound in order to prevent breakage.

Not interested in picnic sets? I see – I guess you prefer to use paper plates and plastic knives, forks, and spoons. No problem! Maybe you’d prefer the classic wicker picnic baskets. I really like the wicker picnic baskets, I suppose because they have a vintage look and feel. But wicker picnic baskets are also available as picnic sets, so you can have the best of both worlds, so to speak.

If you’re planning a romantic interlude for two and just want a light lunch or snack, you might be interested in one of the wine and cheese wicker picnic baskets. These attractive baskets hold two bottles of wine in an insulated compartment, and they come with a corkscrew and a cheese knife. Chilled wine and cheese on a lazy afternoon with your significant other – what’s not to love?

How about picnic baskets and picnic sets that aren’t really baskets at all? How about a picnic cooler on wheels? These rolling coolers are super convenient, especially if you have to walk a ways to get to your dining location. You can pack all your goodies in the cooler and pull it to wherever you want. No one in your party will have to “lug around” a heavy picnic basket!

A more modern version of the picnic basket is the picnic tote. These are similar to bags that you might use for an afternoon at the beach. Many of these are insulated, and they come in a variety of colors, prints, and patterns.

Okay, what if you want to really get away from it all and hike into the wilderness for an outdoor adventure – you gotta eat, right? If this is you, you might want to consider one of the great picnic backpacks on the market now. Many of the picnic backpacks are insulated, with a water-resistant lining to avoid leaks. Most also have different compartments for storing food and beverages. A good thing about picnic backpacks is that you can divide the load among several members of your group. They’re inexpensive, too, so you might want to purchase several!

Do yourself and your family a favor this spring, and plan a few picnics. It’s a great way to spend a few hours, and it’s inexpensive, too. Choose to go to a nearby state park, the beach, a clearing in the woods, or to a grassy field. Location really isn’t as important as spending time with your loved ones. Be sure to take along some music, a Frisbee, a ball, a butterfly net, and/or a book. Oh, and don’t forget your camera or camcorder.

As a life-long picnicker, I can tell you that your outings will be a lot easier and a lot more fun with the right equipment. Look at the great deals below and decide which one will work best for you and your future picnics – picnic sets, wicker picnic baskets, rolling picnic coolers, totes, or picnic backpacks.
