Carolina Panthers’ All-Time Receiving Yardage Leaders

Muhsin Muhammad

Steve Smith

The Carolina Panthers began play in 1995 and have been to one Super Bowl.  They have also been extremely competitive more often than not, something that every expansion team simply cannot say.  The team has also fielded some great receivers so far, and here is a list of the franchise’s all-time Top 5 in receiving yardage:

Muhsin Muhammad (8674)—Muhsin Muhammad has played most of his career in Carolina, from 1996 to 2004 and then again in 2008.  Muhammad tops the Panthers’ all-time list of receivers with 8674 yards, and he has made the Pro Bowl twice, once as a first team All Pro in 2004.  That season was also Muhammad’s best, as he caught 93 passes for a career high and NFL-leading 1405 yards with 16 touchdowns (also career best).

Steve Smith (7348)—Steve Smith has been with Carolina since 2001, his entire career, and in eight seasons, minus some time missed due to injuries, has racked up 7348 receiving yards.  That ranks him second in Panthers’ history and also make Smith one of the NFL’s most feared downfield threats.  Smith has made the Pro Bowl four times, including a first team All Pro selection in 2005.  That season, Smith had career highs and NFL leading statistics in three categories: receptions (103), receiving yards (1563) and touchdown catches (12).  He also carried the ball four times for 25 yards and one more TD as a rusher.

Wesley Walls (3902)—Wesley Walls was a journeyman tight end and played in Carolina from 1996 to 2002.  Walls ranks third in Panthers’ team history with 3902 receiving yards and he made the Pro Bowl five times out of his seven seasons in Carolina.  His best season was 1999, with career highs in receptions (63), receiving yards (822), and touchdowns (12).

Mark Carrier (2547)—Mark Carrier was also a journeyman player, and he spent the last four years of his NFL career in a Panthers’ uniform, from 1995 to 1998.  Carrier ranks fourth in franchise history with 2547 receiving yards, and his best season in Carolina was 1995.  That year, Carrier caught 66 passes for 1002 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Donald Hayes (1855)—Donald Hayes had a brief NFL career, but played most of that career in Carolina, from 1998 to 2001.  Hayes ranks fifth in Panthers’ history with 1855 receiving yards and his best season was 2000, when he had career highs in receptions (66), receiving yard (926) and touchdown catches (3).
