Cheltenham 2014 The Neptune
Is Rathvinden the best value Mullins horse?
The Neptune Novice hurdle
Red Sherlock beat Rathvinden by 2 lengths in a good trial for this race in desperate ground. The two of them pulled 29 lengths clear of the remainder of the field, Red Sherlock outstayed Rathvinden on the day and looked like an out and out stayer, whereas the Neptune trip on better ground looked perfect for Rathvinden, who looked like he would struggle to see out Cheltenham's stiff 3 miles.
Red Sherlock beat Rathvinden by 2 lengths and is as short as 9/2, with Rathvinden as big as 20/1. Let's look at some of the horses trading shorter than Rathvinden. David Pipe has indicated that Red Sherlock's strength is his stamina may well go for the Albert Bartlett instead
Willie Mullins dominates the market with 4 runners trading at 20/1 or shorter.
Vautour is likey to go for the Supreme, and the favourite Faugheen is by no means guarenteed to take in this race and has multiple entries. The trainer has indicated that Briar Hill is a stayer and at the moment is another more likely to take in the Bartlett rather than this race.
AP indicated that nicky Henderson's Captain Cutter was more of an Albert Bartlett horse. The race will most likely cut up quite badly and the 20/1 with BetVictor would look massive if Red Sherlock or Faugheen pull out.
Rathvinden 14/1 E/W with Bet365 NRNB (or 20/1 with BetVictor).
