Florida Panthers Career Goal Scoring Leaders
The Florida Panthers have been an NHL franchise since 1993, and though they reached the Stanley Cup Finals in 1996, have mostly struggled, with just three overall playoff appearances and none since 2000. But the Panthers, like most teams, have had some good offensive players…and what follows is their short list of all-time leading goal scorers to date:
Olli Jokinen (188)—Center Olli Jokinen played for the Panthers from 2000 to 2008, and ranks first in Panthers’ history with 188 goals. Jokinen scored 30 or more goals four times in a Panthers’ uniform, and his best season was 2006-07. That year, Jokinen had career highs in goals (39), assists (52) and total points (91).
Scott Mellanby (157)—Right wing Scott Mellanby played for Florida from 1993 to 2001, and he ranks second in franchise history with 157 goals scored. Mellanby scored 30 or more goals twice, including his best season of 1995-96 when the Panthers reached the Cup Finals. That year, Mellanby had career high numbers in goals (32), assists (38) and total points (70).
Pavel Bure (152)—Right wing Pavel Bure only played in Florida from 1998 to 2002, but he made those years count. Bure ranks third in Panthers’ history with 152 goals, and he had two straight seasons in which he led the NHL in goals (1999-2000 and 2000-01). He had two seasons with Vancouver with more goals and points, but those two seasons in Florida were great too, as he scored 58 goals in 1999-2000 and 59 goals in 2000-01, with 94 and 92 total points, respectively.
Nathan Horton (128)—Center Nathan Horton has been with the Panthers his entire career so far, since 2003. He’s been a solid player, with more than 20 goals the last four seasons, and ranks fourth in franchise history with 128 goals. Horton’s best season so far was 2006-07, when he had a career best 31 goals with 31 assists for 62 total points (tied career high).
Viktor Kozlov (101)—Center Viktor Kozlov played for the Panthers from 1997 to 2004, and he ranks tied for fifth in team history with 101 goals. Kozlov scored 22 goals in 2002-03, his highest goal output with the team, but his best season overall was with Florida in 1999-2000. That year, Kozlov scored 17 goals but had career highs in assists (53) and total points (70).Rob Niedermayer (101)—Center Rob Niedermayer played for the Panthers from 1993 to 2001, and he is tied with Kozlov for fifth all-time in Panthers’ history with 101 goals. His best season was with Florida in 1995-96, with career highs in goals (26), assists (35) and total points (61).
