Musselburgh 3.30 Collaboration 8/1 with BV.
Andrew balding takes one horse 420 miles yoday, which would be significant if it was a 2k race but with a 37k purse up for grabs that fact alone doesn't mean much.

This is an easier race in theory than Collarboration's last race, I think this has been the horse's target and they have been protecting his handicap mark.

The tongue tie is on (2 wins and a place from 4 runs) and he has his ground today. With a good conditional, who is 4 from 18 when riding for Andrew Balding taking off another 7lb he looks well handicapped, the turf win came on Soft and he was 2nd off a 1lb lower mark.

What really appeals to me is that Collaboration is out of Halling and a Marju, his breeding certainly suggests this step up in trip will suit. He won over a mile as a 2yo and his last two races have both suggested he needed further and it could be significant that connections have waited until today before upping the horse in trip.

A £37k purse has attracted a decent field but at the early 8/1 Collaboration looks a decent EW prospect to me.

Ayr 4.30 Beckermet 5/1

12yo Beckermet is by no far the force of old, but he is still the clear class act in this lowly Class 6 handicap.

The old boy drops from a 0-80 into a 0-65 and the average OR of his last 3 races has been 66;68 and 71, which is far in advance of his opponents today. He finished 3rd of 12 LTO in a better race running from out of the handicap.

He has dropped 7lb in the weights lately and the heavy rains at Ayr could mean that he is the only horse that handles the ground today. Tortoise and Ellies Image are the two big dangers, but Ellies Image is unproven on the Ground and Tortoise is vulnerable dropping back in trip.
