Football Opinions

We put the questions to YOU, the fans, have your say on the all important (Often unimportant) Football questions and arguments up and down the terraces, that nearly every fan has discussed at some point, Who's the best player in the world currently, which player is better in which position, which goal is better, who should be manager, that kind of thing!.

Should Martin O'Neill have been sacked?

  • YES
  • NO

Aguero OR Tevez!?

  • Aguero
  • Tevez
See results without voting

Tevez and Aguero reignited their partnership again this weekend in the Cup, we've seen the argentine connection working very well before, namely towards the end of last season, they're both simillar is style and stature BUT who is better!? Aguero or Tevez?

Leighton Baines OR Ashley Cole!?

  • Baines - (I'm an Everton Fan)
  • Cole - (I'm a Chelsea Fan
  • Baines - (I'm a neutral Fan)
  • Cole - (I'm a neutral Fan)

4 options have been given, this way we can also see whether an opinion is shared just amongst those of the players fanbase based on allegiance, or those who also have the support of the neutral fan.

Ashley Cole has long since been regarded as untouchable at the Left-Back Position for England and widely regarded as one of the best Left backs in the world and it was accepted that Leighton Baines was good but unfortunately not as good as Ashley Cole, but was it!! this seems to have spurred Baines on to push even harder to reach a level where he can compete with the England centurion and arguably he has now reached it, so where do you stand?

Messi vs Ronaldo!?

  • Messi
  • Ronaldo

This is the argument that you just cannot avoid in nearly discussion surrounding Football, these 2 players are battling it out on a level of their own, smashing record after record in the process, one things for sure, without one, the other would undoubtably be the best player in the World but this isn't the case, so who IS the best player in the world? the old Messi vs Ronaldo debate lives on!

Poor Ronaldo, always getting compared to the one player better than him! haha. Lets have Ronaldo vs Falcao, he might win that one!

Good hub, always fun to compare opinions! Are you going to post more polls as things come up?

I think the messi ronaldo challenge is false. Players arent the same, that is a serious tactical miscomprehension the media puts out. CR7, Drogba, Messi, are all different types of players.

CR7 is similar to Gareth Bale or THierry Henry. Drogba is similar to Diego Milito, Messi is similar to Falcao. RVP and Chicarito are similar.

even that whole best 11isnt put in a proper context.

cr7, messi, falcao, xavi, iniesta, xabi alonso, Puyol, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Dani Alves

The backline is solid, and the midfield can be an inverted triangle with xavi and iniesta in front of xabi alonso, but the forward three are a problem.messi is a central player more trequartista creative forward motion, cr7 likes to play wide and cut in creating from aside the opposing box, Falcao likes to play central and take on the one touch.

Falcao cr7 and messi's skills dont balance each other well in terms of playing styles.

Point men, trequartista's, poachers, and cutters aren't the same kind of players.

Baines is good but is baines better defensively than ashley cole, the answer is still no, which is why dani alves and marcelo were poor choices for world best wide backs.

That 11 would line up with Ronaldo on the left, cutting in up front, and Iniesta on the right. cutting into midfield. Messi would play off Falcao. Would also require Alonso to cover the space behind Ronaldo, meaning Xavi would be able to link up with Messi and Iniesta or the right side of the pitch. Could work a treat:

------------Falcao---------------------

----------------------Messi------------

Ronaldo------------------------------

--------------------------------Iniesta

---------Alonso------Xavi-----------

----------------------------------------

Marcelo--Ramos--Puyol--Alves

The whole right side of the pitch: Barcelona!

Did you vote in the Baines-Cole pole Rich? :)

Richard-Murray 3 years ago

Thomas , iniesta on the right is a liability, if the team doesnt play a possession based system like Barca, and if they do, CR7 and Falcao will drift out of the game.

CCahill,

I thought I did but I did when i got this response

Sergio Aguero OR Carlos Tevez!?

Aguero this season. Tevez can be the better player on his day though.

Yeah toughie, i went for Aguero, mainly cos hes got a better attitude, guy never gives us a ball, whether theyre winning or loosing, same great work rate and probably better at working the channels, agreed that Tevez has the potential to do more magical stuff buta pretty tame season from him so far

:) I think ManC's rotation policy is flawed and the general defeat in many tournaments. I think Balotelli made a great move out to Milan too. He is starting without question, scoring goals and home.

Balotelli or Ibrahimovic ?:)

Should Martin O'Neill have been sacked?

No, but he's had the whole season and their league position is terrible. The squad is better than their position, so it can only be because the manager hasn't got the best from them. I would have given him another season.

Yeah its a funny one aint it, 8 games to go last season, you would probably have sacked Roberto Mancini and then look what happened, gotta give managers til the end of the campaign imo! but they just get desperate and hope that by rolling the dice theyll survive. You make a good point tho, Sunderland are far better in players than they are league pos!
