Way to go Kaya Turski!

The dominant female in ski slopestyle is making her hometown of Montreal, Quebec, Canada proud for yet another reason this week. On June 26, Kaya Turski was nominated for Best Female Action Sports Athlete in the 20th annual ESPY Awards. What an exciting opportunity for the 24-year-old athlete!

Who Is Kaya Turski

Kaya Turski is considered to be one of the best female slopestyle skiers in the world. She successfully defended her 2011 gold medals at both the 2012 Winter X Games and the European X Games in Tignes, France.

As well, she won the two Dew Tour stops in the 2011/12 season, clenching the Dew Cup for the overall Dew Tour ski slopestyle female athlete!

The talented athlete travels worldwide during the competitive season. She is also busy with her “State Of Mind” video webisode series and her visits home to Montreal, Canada.

The ESPY Awards

Enter the ESPYS. Canadian Kaya Turski competes in the woman’s action sports category against Jamie Anderson, Kelly Clark, and Carissa Moore. Anderson and Clark are snowboarders, while Moore is a surfer.

The 2012 ESPYS will air on television Wednesday, July 11, at 9 pm EST on ESPN. The event will be held at the Nokia Theatre at LA LIVE in Los Angeles, California.

Voting for the Best Female Action Sports Athlete of the Year 2012 and the other categories went live on June 26. Please visit the ESPYS 20th Anniversary website to vote for Kaya Turski.

She is also part of the inaugural Canada Freestyle Ski Association National slopestyle team that will head to the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. At the Games, slopestyle skiing will be added as an event for the first time!

While Turski and the sport of slopestyle skiing are both young, they both also have great adventures ahead of them!

I am watching the trials and it's all so exciting. Thanks for giving us details and information on who to watch. I will have to keep an eye out for Kaya. The first hub on her was fascinating.

I have to honestly say I have never heard of the EPSY awards, but this does look interesting! What exactly is slopestyle skiing? Great job, voted up and all that good stuff! :)
