IPL V Final – Chennai Super Kings Vs Kolkata Knight Riders – Who Will Win?

CSK Are The Favourites, But I Feel KKR Is Going To Win

Grand Final

Tomorrow, the grand final of the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is going to be played between CSK and KKR at M A Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. If CSK wins the match, it will have the distinction of winning the cup consecutively for the third time and performing a hat-trick. One looks forward to M S Dhoni providing the inspiration and motivation as a captain and takes his team CSK to a historic win tomorrow against KKR.

Home Turf Advantage

Odds favour CSK to win tomorrow’s match. The match is going to be played on the home turf for the CSK and hence the team will enjoy the home crowd’s strong backing. CSK is a well balanced team with its batting, bowling and fielding clicking during vital occasions. Almost all the CSK’s batsmen are in great form. Suresh Raina had chipped in with useful contributions in the league stage of the tournament. Murali Vijay did not shine in the league stages but in the knockout stage, he is in great form. He scored 113 runs off mere 58 balls in the semi-final against Delhi Daredevils. Dhoni has rediscovered his power and is hitting the balls in all directions in both ground and air.

Hilfenhaus Is A Great Fast Bowler

Subramaniam Badrinath played a useful knock of 47 against Mumbai Indians and was associated with a 94 runs stand with Mike Hussey for the third wicket after the fall of two early wickets for the CSK. Hussey has been in his usual quiet and calm and steadying the CSK innings whenever it needs. Albie Morkel is a big hitter and so also Dwayne Bravo. CSK bowling is also delivering goods. Albie Morkel, Ravichandran Ashwin and Bravo are performing well. Hilfenhaus, the Aussie bowler, is striking vital blows at crucial stages of the match. CSK fielding is outstanding. The fielders have prevented many boundaries and saved useful run for their team. Outstanding catches have been held in many matches.

Gautam Gambhir Can Tackle Any Bowler

What about KKR? Its captain Gautam Gambhir can take any attack in his stride and score runs freely in quick time. Gambhir has the weakness of getting himself or his partner run out often. Against an agile CSK fielding, this may prove costly for his team. Jacques Kallis can steady the innings with his rich experience of the game. In addition, Kallis can also bowl and chip in with a wicket or two at crucial stages. McCullum is a free hitter and on his day can destroy any type of bowling in the world. Yusuf Pathan has not been in the best form in the leagues stages but in the last match, he struck form against Delhi Daredevils. If Pathan plays his useful game, CSK is in for trouble. Das can hit the ball all round the field without any fear.

Sunil Narine Cannot Be Hit For Too Many Runs

KKR bowling is more efficient than it’s batting. Sunil Narine is the best bowler in the current IPL tournament among all the nine teams. He has not been hit for more than 30 runs in his four overs in any of the match. Lakshmipathy Balaji is striking and taking important wickets though he also gives away runs. Shakib Al Hasan tempts the batsmen to come out and either gets them stumped or gets them caught on the boundary line while going for a hit. Though Kallis is not a great bowler by any standard and can be hit, he strikes at times. CSK batsmen will hit Iqbal Abdullah and Rajat Bhatia freely. KKR fielding is good.

CSK Are The Favourites, But I Feel KKR Is Going To Win

Tomorrow’s final is going to be a closely fought match. If CSK bats first, it will be to their advantage. CSK will try to put in 200 plus runs but against some tight bowling by Narine and Balaji, it will be difficult for them. If CSK manages to put 160 – 170 runs on the board, they will be safe. On the other hand if they score less than 140 runs, the match will be evenly poised. If KKR bats first, it will aim to score as many runs as possible but in my opinion they may score around 160 runs if they bat well. CSK may find difficult to chase a target of 161 against some tight bowling by KKR. If KKR succeeds in taking early CSK wickets, then they can win the match. But if KKR batting fails and they put up a total of only 130 – 140 runs, it will be easy for CSK to chase that total and win the match. Overall, the match is in favour of CSK in the ratio 60 : 40. But my personal intuition says that KKR is going to win the cup.
