Jake Shields vs. George St.Pierre who won the fight

UFC 129 Sat. April 30th 2011

Who is the best 170lb fighter in the UFC?

Coming up this Saturday night is the much anticipated fight between the UFC(Ultimate Fighting Championship) welterweight champion George St.Pierre and Jake Shields, a fighter who has not had a loss in 6 years & has held 5 different titles in MMA (mixed martial arts)

When I say this is a much anticipated fight that is an understatement because it sold out in 30 minutes - 33,000 tickets gone in less than half an hour.

If the fighters stay on their feet I believe that St.Pierre will have the advantage simply because he has been training with Freddie Roach (a legendary boxing trainer who has trained Manny Pacquiao & Amir Khan & other champions)

If they go to the ground then I would say that Jake Sheilds would have the advantage because he is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and is trained by the legendary trainer Cesar Gracie, Sheilds also has a strong background in NCAA II wrestling & has been able to take every opponent he has faced to the ground and dominate them there.

I think that Jake Shields will be the new UFC Welterweight Champion - take the poll below & cast your vote & lets see who will be favored in my poll to win this fight.

Thanks & God-Bless

George St. Pierre easily won the fight above.

60 people voted in the poll and it was 30 votes each.

I think everyone was amazed how easy George won.

George is the best pound for pound fighter in MMA

He will be the champ for awhile.

Will there be a new champ this Sat. night?

Who will win the fight?

  • George St.Pierre
  • Jake Shields

Manthy,

I agree with your comment. The fight sucked. I don't think anyone around can beat GSP, but I had hopes for JS. He's a warrior. GSP played it safe in the end, and that's accepted in boxing which I love, but not MMA's. I agree with your statement about their careers. That fight darn sure didn't help either guy.

Good Hub!

GSP won in a very disappointing fight, I actually think it hurt both their careers.
