Gautam Gambhir’s Mother Had Not Taught Him to Walk Properly

Shakib Al Hasan Makes Victory Easy For KKR

It was an easy victory for the Kolkata Knight Riders against Rajasthan Royals in yesterday’s IPL match at Eden Gardens. Rajasthan Royals did not provide a challenging target for the KKR to chase. A target of 132 was rather easy for the KKR though there were anxieties towards the end after Bisla’s dismissal. Shakib Al Hasan with his big hit made sure that the target was reached without any difficulty. Kallis was the top scorer for the KKR with 31 made off 38 balls with three fours. Gautam Gambhir was run out for 11.

Gautam Gambhir’s Mother Had Not Taught Him to Walk Properly

Gautam Gambhir was not properly taught to walk by his mother when he was a child. As a result, he stumbles upon and either gets himself out or his partners. This time there was no surprise that he got himself out. Bisla stayed put and started building up the KKR innings. He made 29 off 29 balls with three fours. Manoj Tewary and Bisla tried to steer the KKR towards the set target. But after both of them departed, it was left to Shakib Al Hasan to score the required run. Though Shakib scored only 16 runs, he made it in good time of only 10 balls with one four and one six. By the time Shakib was out, only six runs were needed to be scored off nine balls. Yusuf Pathan and Ten Doeschaste were the batsmen at the crease when the victory came for KKR.

Shah Looked Different and Struggling This Time

It was a sweet victory before the home crowd. Eden Gardens was packed to the capacity. Rajasthan Royals batted first. Except for Owais Shah, other batsmen failed to contribute significantly. Wickets started tumbling at regular intervals. Even Shah was not at his best. Those who saw Shah batting in the previous match between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians found him a different stuff here. In the earlier match, Shah grounded the Mumbai Indians bowling by hitting 76 runs in less than 40 balls. But this time he scored 31 runs off 33 balls with three fours. It was a painstaking innings. Shah was unsure of him and looked like departing at any time. Had he played an innings which he did against the Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals could have been in better position and could have even won the match on this slow Eden Gardens track. Earlier Rahul Dravid scored 28 runs off 27 balls with five fours. One expected Rahane to contribute substantially but he was out for 19 off 16 balls with three fours. Goswami hit 24 off 22 balls with one four and one six. Goswami and Shah put up the best partnership for Rajasthan Royals amounting to 59 runs in 8.2 overs but they mostly scored through singles painfully.

Dropping of Cooper Was a Mistake

For KKR, Balaji bowled well but went wicketless. Shakib Al Hasan was the most successful bowler with figures of 4-0-17-3. He was awarded the man-of-the-match award which he richly deserves. The presence of Shakib is an asset for the KKR as he makes his presence in all the departments of the game namely batting, bowling and fielding. KKR made the big mistake of dropping him from the team in its opening match and paid the price for it. Now KKR is a strong contender to the IPL title. Rajasthan Royals made a mistake in dropping Kevon Cooper.
