Latest Liverpool FC Headlines:

Today's headlines:

Liverpool boss would fight to keep Skrtel:

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that he does not want Martin Skrtel to leave Liverpool and hopes he still wants commit to his Anfield Venture. Skrtel has a remaining year on his contract but is yet to put pen to paper to extend his stay at Liverpool. Mancester City have been reported to show increasing interest in Liverpools player of the season but Brendan Rodgers has confirmed "I will fight as hard as I can to keep the players that I want here and Martin is definitely one of them."

Reds close on Allen deal:

Liverpool FC are currently in talks with a possible new signing from the Swans, Joe Allen for around the £15M price. Allen has said he is keen to join the side but is currently concentrating on his efforts at the Olympics for team GB. Rodgers is looking to get this signing wrapped up so he can join the current signing Fabio Borini.

New Signing Borini:

Borini is the latest Liverpool signing who has been tranferred from Roma this summer to Liverpool for a fee of £10.5M. Borini previously played for both Chelsea and Swansea on loan in his previous seasons and managed to work twice with current Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers. Last Season Borini scored 10 goals in 26 games for Roma and this take him to an overall total of 16 goals in 46 games. The main question in my mind is will Borini be able to provide Premier League goals and performances and will his youth show through lack of first team experience after only one first team season with a high-end club?

Argentine Maxi Rodriguez heads home to sign for Newell's Old Boys:

The 31-year-old has headed back to home after deciding against staying in England. Maxi arrived at Anfield from Atletico Madrid in January 2010 and made 73 appearances for the Liverpool FC scoring 17 goals. However due to not being able to hold down a regular starting role he has grew increasingly frustrated at a lack of opportunities and decided to leave the club.

Before leaving Anfield, Maxi addressed Liverpool's supporters in an open letter. It read: "Dear Reds, I am leaving Liverpool FC today. "Before signing for LFC, I just saw the club as one of the greatest institutions in football. After my time here I can confirm that this is not just a great club but also a great family. "I have tried to give everything every day that I was wearing the LFC crest. It has been a great honour to defend this shirt during two and a half years. I am returning home with a suitcase full of great memories, good friends within the team and also within this great family that works every day in the club. "Thanks a lot for your support. You can NOT imagine what a great honour it was for me when the Kop sang, 'Maxi, Maxi Rodríguez runs down the wing for me da da da da dada...' "Hasta la vista."

Gerrard pays tribute as Dutchman moves to Fenerbahce:

The arrival of the new Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers did not make up Dirk Kuyt's mind in the Dutchman's decision to join Fenerbahce. The Turkish side on Sunday announced the signing of Dirk Kuyt on a three-year contract, ending his six-year spell on Merseyside. Kuyt found first-team starts limited under former boss Kenny Daglish and even the Scot's departure, and the arrival of Rodgers as his replacement, could not stop him leaving. "After six years, I am ready for a new challenge," Kuyt said on the website of his management, Sport Promotion. "(The club and supporters) I will always carry in my heart.
