Mayweather-Marquez boxing bout- who will win?
THIS hugely anticipated non-title bout between FLOYD MAYWEATHER , JR. 32, and JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ, 36, which was postponed last July 18 will go on as rescheduled to September 19 at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada due to a rib injury sustained by Floyd "Pretty Boy" Mayweather, Jr. during his workout. Both boxers were disappointed over this sad turn of events.
Marquez has moved up to the welterweight division to fight Mayweather at 144 pounds. Marquez is a superfeatherweight, a featherweight and a lightweight with a sterling record of 50 wins, 4 losses, 1 draw and 37 knockouts. On the other hand, Mayweather holds 8 titles in 3 weight divisions: Superfeatherweight, Lightweight and Superlightweight. Floyd "Pretty Boy" or "Money" Mayweather, Jr. has won all 39 boxing fights, 25 of whom were defeated via knockouts and has never been defeated.
Mayweather's comeback to the boxing arena was prompted and inspired by his mother. He changed decision to put his hat again in the ring after nearly 2 years of retirement. He went with his mom for a pleasure trip to the Bahamas as a gift for her sparking his return to the boxing world.
Boxing pundits favored Mayweather to win because of his superior strength, speed and defense. The Pretty Boy is too fast a pugilist and a master of defense. De la Hoya who himself was beaten by Mayweather, admitted by saying: "Floyd Mayweather is an excellent boxer and best fighter on the planet". However- the Golden Boy- in defense of Marquez- added: "But style makes fight and I'm sure Marquez has dissected Mayweather's style". The Golden Boy believed Marquez possesses an excellent jab which he can triple and quadruple. He believed that Marquez can initiate trouble to Mayweather in the early rounds because of his nearly 2-year absent in the ring. In fact the Golden Boy had been to Mexico and had watched Marquez in actual practice. He said: "I saw how much he bulked up; I saw how much strength he has gained. I saw how seriously he's taking the fight". Marquez himself is not contented of being Mexico's No.1 boxer; he wants to be the World's No.1. He trained uphill in Mexico where he lift boulders one after the other to promote his strength and endurance. Of all boxers, he had a unique way of taking in vitamins and proteins by way of drinking his urine.
Let's monitor this long-awaited boxing match on the night of Saturday. September 19.
MIDWAY in the 2nd round, Mayweather got Marquez floored (knockdown) but Marquez managed strongly to trade punches with Mayweather until the 12th and last round - however it was visibly clear he was outboxed and outpointed. The judges declared a UNANIMOUS DECISION in favor of Floyd "Money" Mayweather, Jr. Here are the raw scores: Brent Clemens- 120-107; Dave Moretti- 119- 108; William Lerch- 118- 109; The Associated Press- 120- 107. Did you derive satisfaction in this bout?
