NFL Insider's Thanksgiving Day Games & Predictions
Miami Dolphins (3-7) at Dallas Cowboys (6-4)
Ah, it's Thanksgiving! Some of the best football happens on Thanksgiving Day, and the Cowboys are always apart of the festivities. This year they host one of the hottest teams in the AFC the last few weeks. The Miami Dolphins, winners of three straight games pose an actual threat to the Cowboys this week. The Cowboys usually play well on Thanksgiving, but I think the Dolphins are playing better football right now. The boys should have lost last week, but Gano missed a field goal and Shanahan let Romo get away with calling a timeout when he didn't have any. If this would have happened, I'm not sure Romo would have been able to recover from this. But it didn't and the Cowboys are tied with the Giants for first in the NFC East. The Dolphins brought in Reggie Bush in the off season and he has given them their money's worth. He has proven he can be a legitimate every down back for them, and he is having the best season of his career. Matt Moore has clearly earned the starting position at QB going forward and I think they should keep him on for next season. Use the draft picks on your line and some defensive players. Look for the Dolphins to play the Cowboys tough, but Dallas doesn't lose too many games on Thanksgiving. I like the Boys in a close one. Cowboys 27-21
Green Bay Packers (10-0) at Detroit Lions (7-3)
This is the game I'm looking forward to most this week. The Green Bay Packers survived a scare against Tampa Bay last week, thanks to Jordy Nelson. This might be one of the most underrated receivers in the NFL. It looks like James Stark may miss this week's game, so the running game will take a hit. The Lions are coming off their best game in a month. Stafford threw for five touchdowns, and got some much needed help in the run game from Kevin Smith, who scored three touchdowns himself. This game is very important for the Lions, as they are in a heated race with the Bears, Falcons, Giants, and Cowboys. The Packers, even though they are undefeated, need this win as well in order to keep the first seed in tact. Remember, the 49ers beat the Lions earlier this year, so San Fran can jump to the top seed with a win and a Packers loss. I'm going to go out on a limb and take the Lions in the upset of the season! These games are always entertaining on turkey day. Hopefully this will be one to remember. Lions 31-28 OT
San Francisco 49ers (9-1) at Baltimore Ravens (7-4)
Brother vs Brother. Jim versus John. Harbaugh vs. Harbaugh. That's the story line for this battle of first place teams. The Ravens need this game more than the niners do, but don't expect Jim to come in with that attitude. This guy is the most energetic coach in the league and always has his players motivated. You can tell the team takes on the demeanor of their coach. Alex Smith has revived his career under Harbaugh's guidance, and a defense that released most of their players at the start of the season is now the top ranked defense in the league against the run. Carlos Rogers leads the NFL in interceptions, and they have more take aways than any other team in the league. The Ravens are so up and down, and if this season has told us anything about the Ravens, they will come to play against a good 49er team. It's going to be a good game and will be fun to watch the brother's coach against one another. I like the 49ers to win this game. I think the Ravens will struggle against San Francisco's defense, and Flacco will be under pressure and make mistakes that will cost them the game. 49ers 27-20
