NFL Playoff Time - Wild Card Weekend
Week 17 stacked up the way most of us thought it would and the playoff teams are now set. Unfortunately for the Lions, Matt Flynn played better than Aaron Rodgers or Brett Favre ever have for the Packers. Now they are set to face the hottest team in the league right now, the New Orleans Saints. If Matt Flynn was able to throw for over 500 yards and 6 TD's, imagine what Drew Brees is going to do to them in the Superdome. The Saints are unbelievable indoors but there are two teams ahead of them in the seeding that are outdoor teams and could cause troubles for them once they get past Detroit. I don't see them beating the 49ers or Packers on their home turfs. I watched them struggle a few weeks ago in Tennessee against a back up quarterback. Back to the game this weekend, I think it will be a shoot out, but that Lions defense I saw Sunday will not be able to stop Drew Brees and that high power offense. Saints win 41-31
The other NFC game this Sunday should be a good one between the Giants and Falcons. Both of these teams have been hit or miss all year so it's really going to depend on which teams show up to play. The Giants will have the upper hand with home field advantage, and the Falcons don't play real well away from the dome. Eli Manning has been terrific this year. He's enjoying his best season as a pro and Victor Cruz has been nothing short of outstanding. He was robbed out of a pro bowl appearance this year as well. Both defenses have been suspect and have given up big plays all year, but the Giants finally have all of their D-lineman playing together so they should be able to get after Matt Ryan like they did Romo last week. The Falcons offense exploded last week against Tampa and put the fork in Raheem Morris and his staff. I look forward to this game, but I think the Giants will win this one. Giants 30-21
Bengals at Texans
The Cincinnati Bengals got lucky and drew the Houston Texans first round. All they need to do is stack 8 in the box and stop the run and they should be able to come out of Houston with a win. Yates may or may not be healthy enough to play, but either way the Bengals should be able to get a win this weekend and earn a trip to New England. I know Houston came back and beat the Bengals a few weeks ago, but I really do feel that the Bengals are the better team without Shaub playing. Andy Dalton should be in the Pro Bowl and probably will be when Brady sits out again. This is a good young team but they haven't proven to beat anyone that is a playoff caliber team. In order for them to win, they will need to get a good day from Cedric Benson and Andy Dalton will have to protect the football. I believe they do just that and the Bengals win. Bengals 24-20
Steelers at Broncos
This is going to be an interesting game. The Steelers offense has not been the same since Roethlisberger got hurt. If the Broncos defense shows up, this could be a good game. The Steelers offense is only scoring about 15 points a game the past three weeks, which is well in Tebow range to win the game. I like the Broncos field goal kicker much better than the Steelers, which could make the difference in the game. Both defenses will show up so this should be a great game. I'm going out on a limb and taking the Broncos in a huge upset. Tebow will make it happen. Broncos 14-13
